Whippin' 'nades since aught-2

Would you have liked a control option that allowed a more simulation style when driving?

For example, one stick for each track on the scorpion and the d-pad for the turret?
Gear shifting on the hog? Maybe even racing wheel support?

One stick for each track on the scorpion and the d-pad fro the turret...sounds like a great idea if I can kidnap and brain wash an octopus....

That sounds too tricky....the driving element of Halo CE is fine, so why alter it ?

Driving a tank and operating its turret at the same time should be trickey.

Keyword = simulation

Why alter it?

Well seeing as how using two sticks to control each sides tracks is outdated and no longer used I don't see how that would be simulation. Also if you wanted simulation you would have to have one person controlling the turret and one person driving. Also seeing as how automatic transmissions do exist, making the player shift would be no more realistic. The only thing they could do to make it more "simulation" would be more realistic driving physics, and making it in first person view.

Also since there is a lot more to the game I don't think I would want to have to unplug the racing wheel then plug in my controller if I have to get out.

Exactly....I had the bizarre experience of owning Steel Battalion on the Xbox and the enormous controller with a button and a joystick for every possible movement type and a set a pedals!!!.....if you wanted proper simulation of a Scorpion you would need something like that....

In simpler terms using two buttons for track movement is tricky, same as it is tricky using two joysticks on the Steel Battalion controller....its too awkward for an operation that needs to be simple.

The Scorpion was given a redesign along the lines of what you are suggesting in H3 by allowing a second user to operate the machine gun....but still the concept of using two buttons for track movements is for tank simulation games, not Halo CE

May I point out that the Scorpion has four treads?

Yep, but I hope he meant left treads are one button and right sided treads are the another....if not then blimey........

Maybe he was suggesting we buy pedals too.

Haha! Halo pedals ? Now you have said that its probably only a mtter of time before M$ release so limited edition pedals....

Seriously the closest thing to driving a tank at home, without driving a sherman in your back garden, is Steel Battallion.....pedals, 36 buttons, 2 joysticks and an eject button.....plus radio band tuner.....was gutted at the lack of a cup holder though....
