Subject: Should I buy Halo 2?

I am the walrus. Fear the walrus.

I've been playing Halo 3 ever since it came out. But I never played Halo 2. Is it worth buying?

Heh heh, this is like deja vu, all over again. We get this question a 1,000 times a week. Scroll down and visit infinite posts on the subject. Sorry if that sounds rude but a Ninja could put up a sticky titled 'Yes, buy it' and it would address 20% to 30% of the clutter on this board.

I think if you're into the Halo universe you should buy it. But if you're buying it for the campaign or the multiplayer don't get it. I made this mistake after I got live. I thought that the multiplayer would be more fun over live. I was wrong. It takes so long for the game to find other players I just take out the game disk and play Halo 3. And the campaign gameplay (not story) can just get boring after a while. Why, I got so bored with it that I've only played the campaign on easy. Now, occasionally, whenever I have a knack to play Halo 2 I always go for the levels that take place mostly outside instead of inside the buildings.
The game is especially fun when you invite one of your friends over to play split screen. I can only speak for myself, but one of my friends owns an original xbox and sometimes when I go over to his house we have more fun playing split-screen than I do playing Halo 3 online with a mic.
I would only recommend getting the game if you can buy it used for under $20. I think that any other price would be a rip-off. I got my copy of Halo 2 for $6. It has a really good campaign with some fun levels but the online multiplayer is mediocre with everyone playing Halo 3 online but you'll have fun playing split-screen with your buddies and you will find some of the levels fun but never, and I mean never, play on the playlists. The time it takes to find enough players to play a match just makes the online not fun.
