Glad to see the updates, but I wish:
1. You hadn't killed the radar in h-t-h;
2. You had left the weapons as they were in Colossus and Beaver Creek;
3. You had set the sword to wear down like it does in Campaign mode;
4. The other two maps were free.
I'm new to the online thing; what the heck is "griefing" ??? Serious question.
Thanks,
BuYou
Okay, quick replies to your 4 complaints:
1. I agree, the radar was one of the tools you could use to find the guy running around the level weapon whoring. Not having this makes their consistent hiding even easier than before. Bad move.
2. I agree and disagree. I like the fact that the noob combo isn't there, but I realize that there are going to be others now. Not to mention the fact that the sniper rifle is now even harder to take down. If they were going to take away the noob combo, they needed to add more options to the map. A rocket launcher and/or sword, for example.....
3. I've heard the wear down idea before, and I'm kinda half-half on that. I don't like it when someone whores the sword, but for team games, it's really not that much leverage. In FFA games, sword wear-down would have been a good idea.
4. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but Bungie has no control over the sale of maps. They can negotiate for their "freedom", but that's about it. MS gets to make that call. I think it's still being handled smartly, however, by the pay-to-get maps not being in the regular playlists. Their overall demand is pretty low as a result.
To the question about griefing: Griefing is commonly described as the actions of online gamers to simply annoy or piss off other players. They commonly use exploits, cheat, or do other silly and stupid things just to piss off their teammates/opponents. Good examples would include:
1. Taking a bomb on Assault, and hiding behind the level on Burial Mounds for about an hour, waiting for the other team to quit.
2. Matchmaking by yourself, get put on a team of 4, grab the rocket launcher, call your team to base in an emergency, and with one well-placed rocket, kill the 3 of them, allowing the other team to easily score.
3. Consistently fire upon your teammates without killing them, so you don't get booted, but keep shooting them, keeping their shields down. This usually results in them killing you in retaliation, and you boot them for betraying you.
It's been more common ever since Bungie gave word about the stat reset. A lot of my friends decided to do this -blam!-, and they're not friends anymore.
