Ive been thinking that it would be cool if your armor showed damage.
Like if your were hit with your shields down, it would melt your armor a bit where you were hit and then if you were hit in the place where your armor melted through it would do more damage or something. Or if you were hit with a bullet it would dent and scratch the paint off your armor. And on multiplayer, if you were hit with some plasma and your armor melted through, and then shot you there with a bullet using weapon, it would do like triple damage to you or something. And for marines, if they were hit somehwere with a plasma sot (say for instance on that big metal plate on their backs) it would melt it through and really f(_)ck them up and their arms and stuff could be melted a bit. Could be cool if implemented right.

sounds like a good idea but in xbox live it could create a lot of lag since the xbox is not exactly a PC and wont be able to take in that much data

I don't want to start an argument here, but Xbox is usually better than most household computers. Because they design the games to be displayed differently, so it could do that. And another thing, it doesn't show damage on your armor, it is just "pre"-Made damage, nothing that is actually real-time. (Well, maybe it shows a little bit more but nothing as detailed as a single bullet hole.)

Well if like a charged bolt from a plasma pistol hit you the rim of where it hit you would bubble out and would be charred on the inside of it, and you would be vulnerable there. And when someone shot you a bunch of times with bullets it would start scratching off paint to show a grey tinit underneath. But it should work like in the books, when marines are hit with plasma on their armor, it melts away and then burning them. It would be cool.

I think battle-damaged MJOLNIR armor is one of Bungies big surprises. If they use it on vehicles, why not suits? I would think pieces would chip away, like knee-joint-pads and fore-arm armor. Maybe covenant armor could also crack and break away, especially after a melee attack. Now that I think of it, I remember reading in an OXM that one of the ways to easily defeat a Brute was to shoot his helemt off and and for the head.

I like the bullet marks and stuff but not the melting idea...it would be cool if the longer you were alive your armor slowly started to look older.

Well, the way they talk about stuff that is charred, melted and glassed from plasma shots in the book, it should be put into the game. And maybe if you shot a few shots at the ground or shot at the ground with a fuel rod cannon (god forbid it into halo 2) it would glass the ground a bit. And also it would be cool if after some marines were killed some grunts and jackals would tear up the corpses, scince thats what they do in the books. (Well, maybe thats going to far) But what would really kick a$$, would be if you actually saw the flood take over the bodies, like if a flood infection form was near a body, it would latch on and after a few minutes it would be fully transformed into a flood warrior form, or a carrier. That would be sweet.
