The first thing you have to do is enable the console...

It's an easy thing to do. First things first, right click the Halo icon and select properties. You should see something like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe". Now, all you have to do is, at the end of the target line, place "(space)-console".

Now it should look like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe -console".

That's the first stage over. Now, whenever you are in a game and someone starts being an arse, press that weird button next to the '1' on your keyboard and you should see some text (pinkish) at the bottom of your screen. All you have to type in is "sv_ban (players name here)", minus the quote marks.

It's a lot easier to ban someone by thier player number though, because you don't have to worry about spelling etc... To find out what number they are, just type in "sv_players" and look down the list.

Might I suggest that you just warn people first though. There isn't much point in just banning everyone who gets on your nerves and having a power trip yourself. Only ban for good reason and you won't get a reputation as an arse yourself. If whatever problem is being caused by any player isn't MAJOR, just use the "sv_kick (player)" option instead.

Hope this helps.

If your have the rcon, that is the password to other servers with their permission, you can have control over all the aspects.

Rcon is dedicated servers only and I don't know too many people who give it out.

What other servers are there? Dedicated and non dedicated. If its non dedicated, you can't set an rcon. You host them and you can use the console.

i set rcon passwords for my non-dedicated games all the time. Just use the command (sv_rcon_password <enter password here>). the person using rcon types in (rcon <enter the rcon password here> <enter command here>).

You can do rcon password on a non-dedicated server, but there are other things that can be done only on a dedicated server.

1) changing the server name on the spot.
2) changing the server password on the spot.
3) leaving the server without closing down the server itself.

i'll need to play again sometime to learn more things.

Ok, so you can set an Rcon for non dedicated servers but I personaly don't see the point. It only stays up while you are on it so you don't need someone else to ban people. I do see some other advantages though, but none that dedicated servers don't already have. Ah well.

well, if you're on halo CE, the server lets others use alldev with rcon. That's why it's good for stunts and things

alldev? never heard of that. I thought devmode didn't let you play internet games.
