My guess is that select will toggle on team frequency/proximity voice.

I guess this because in halo 1 the start button didnt pause anything so I think they'll have start display the score (and the option to quit the game) enabling select to be used.

Yes there is proximity voice, it has been confirmed.

I think it should work like this:

Hold Back button. This will display your score as usual but will also display what frequency you're on. Then press... say button A. This would switch your frequency. So all you have to do to switch your frequency is Hold Back and press A. Now you're not using any extra buttons.

I don't think you will be able to talk to the other teams except through proximity. Then there is no need for changing frequencies.

AUTOMATE!

Ryan Hylland's been busy too:

We've gotten about 100 of the 300 automated boxes delivered, networked, re-imaged, re-named, live accounts created, and in automation. We ran out of power in our room otherwise we would have had more!

We've been running playtests every night in the multiplayer lab testing out voice (my taunting skills have elevated now that proximity voice is in), new maps and game variants and their settings.

Take home tests have begun!

Testing matchmaking (see above) and leaderboard ranking"

JUICE!

Chris Butcher is always good for some juice, and he fails to disappoint this week:

"Luke (Timmins) has our proximity voice in which is awesome. my favorite uses of it are in order:

To thank dead foes for giving me their shotguns

Next time I'm fighting them, to ask them if my weapon maybe looks a little familiar

When I'm stalking someone with a shotgun, call out their name and watch them stop and look around in puzzlement

To run up behind someone, yell "BOOM!" and then a second later pull the trigger."

I wonder if that will help in clan matches a person switches over and listens in on the other team........ what hell that will be.

I think there will still be a huge need for frequencies. I don't want someone over hearing my plans just because they are near by. The MC has a helmet on, a big one. People shouldn't hear him talk unless he wants them to.

you cant listen in on the other team, unless they are all set for proximity and your right next to them.

i dont think there should. You should only be allowed to talk to your teamates for reasons like eavesdroppers. i mean how -blam!- would that be. Hey im going to hide behind this rock. Then you hear somone say I know where you ARE NEHENENENENEH and shoot you

Proximity will probably be a setting chosen by the host.

Use proximity voice? Yes/No

Still no need for frequencies you only have one channel your team.

what about the ability to whisper to users? like for example you want to taunt a certain foe a little bit, or warn him he is about to be sniped through the balls? yeh know, regular stuff like that :p

frequencies? what the...oh. i think i get it. but 2 frequencies is all. team-frequency and all-frequency. what, you wanna hide secret plans on howta betray your team and get the other team to get the flag and only discuss it with 2 people?
oh well.
i think maybe since the down button on the d-pad doesnt do anything(i think?)that could be to view scores and back could be to change between team and all. or vice-versa, however you look at life.

If its every man for him self maybe, but with teams I very much doubt you can talk to them on there radio.

Besides how do you know who you are talking to, unless you get a good enough angle to see his emblem. You would have to figure that out then find his voice channel, to me a huge waste of time. Just kill him then taunt him between rounds in the waiting room.
