Has it ever occured to anyone that the Covenant may be fighting on several fronts, fighting multiple enemies besides humanity?
These are just theories and there is evidence that may prove them wrong which i'll mention later.
It mentions that the Covenant have a history with the Flood. Maybe they are a constant menace to the Covenant Empire. Like the barbarians we're to the Romans they cause havok on the covenants borders. So as well as humans they're fighting flood?
but wait theres more!
Some types of Covenant have only recently shown up. Such as the Brute and Hunters wern't seen until much later in the war. Which MAY mean that as well as the human war, the Covenant are using resources to expand their territories and enslaving other races as they do so.
This could be an exploitable weakness. The Covenant are fighting on several fronts, probably overconfident their superior technology will help them succeed. But just like the Romans, the barbarians got out of control and overran their borders. the same might happen to the Covenant.
In WW2 the Germans we're fighting on to many fronts, with the UK, US and USSR attacking from all borders. It led to their eventual defeat. If the Covenant are fighting on several fronts against humans, flood and perhaps other races, maybe the same will happen to them?
The evidence that contradicts this is the Elites and Engineers. They we're part of the Covenant from the start, they just didn't come into it more until later, eg Elites were a founding Covenant race but not seen until Reach which happened shortly before Halo. So maybe the theory about hunters and brutes is incorrect because they we're just kept back until later too. But it is true that Hunters we're enslaved by the Elites space fleet.
What do you think? Make your own decisions but i hope i've given you something to think about (even with historic referances)

Something tells me no. I heard somewhere that the losses on Halo were minor for the covies, and if they were in a constant battle with the flood they'd have developed some means of protection from them by then. Also, the covies would know a lot more about the flood than we would, but seeing as they didn't that provesyou wrong.

In an interview with some bungie staff in an old xbox mag about Halo 2 it they mentioned the covenant have a history with the flood.
thats why so many people think they might make a return in Halo 2
but like I said its a "theory" as in just an idea.

it was in the JUNE 2002 EGM mag where they had an interview with bungie. they did a little feature about whats returning like another halo, guitlyspark. when they asked about the flood bungie replied ( and i quote), "Do you think we'd really wipe out the flood?", Jones asks," The covenant have a long history them. Some really cool stuff will happen there."

I don't know what you've been reading. The covenant considered it a major defeat. Afterall if you were beaten by your version of a plague that must be wiped out and you were initially outnumbering them wouldn't you be a little upset. The covenant lost a very useful armada in that battle. As well as all that useful forerunner technology wasted. Also in an interview when asked whether the flood will return in Halo 2 to interviewee mentioned that the covenant have a long history with the flood. So I just wanted to say that you haven't proved him wrong and its not a bad theory at all ;)

I think it's very possible for the covenant to fight agianst others than the humans, or maybe one or several other covenant factions, sinec they seem to have very advanced spaceships and stuff (I know they get all their tech from the forerunners, but anyway, if you found weapons of mass destruction, would you bother to learn how to use them, how to produce them and how to adapt them to different species?)
For humans, most of the advancements within military science are done during war. The covenant shouldn't have been able to have so good spaceships if they didn't have a foe to practise against

Or something. Its hard to express waht I mean in english

Thank you for clearing that up. I read plenty of stuff and I don't know what it is I'm reading. x_X It's a curse.
