"Michael M", you are an absolute ass for saying that you've "lost faith in the fans". How could you possibly say something so stupid? You didn't even invest in the competition by entering, and you have the nerve to bash the people that did and got screwed?

Go away you moron, and stay off of this forum until you have something intelligent to say.

Amen, Wooly Man ^_^

Well, me and my crew won as well. Jason told me that 3 groups won. I have our winning pictures if no one believes me. Check my AIM profile (BDaiber). We only sent two of them in. The last day of the new deadline, no less.

To address the concerns posted by everyone:

Jason said that Bungie was bringing some debugging xboxes with the current build of Halo 2 embedded on them. Working at Mt Dew, I'm not surprised he doesn't know more. Jason's cell number is the one we recieved because he's in charge of the contest, and was leaving New York to go to Seattle, and had to be available for emergency contacts. I have been able to reach him just fine on his cell phone. I am coming from PA, and it cost us about $400 a piece to get there and room, booking the flight wednesday night around 10PM. While expensive, it still seems worth it. He told us we were probably going to begin playing around 12, and finish a little after dinner time. The Xbox's will be on plasma setups, and we get all the food and pepsi products we need. Anyway, they really have been pretty helpful to my crew. If you'll excuse me, I have a flight to catch in about 14 hours. I'll let you know how things turned out tomorrow night... if I have internet access from my hotel.

Well, good to hear the whole thing wasn't a fraud. Could somebody post Bdaiber's winning pics somewhere, or email them to me:

travis@advertisingworks.com
travis@dreambigproductions.com

I don't have AIM. Thanks in advance!

Even if Bdaiber's crew did get word (on short notice), Rip's did not. Yes, it is nice to see that the whole thing wasn't a total ripoff (pun not originally intended, but I'm happy with it), but it sucks that it wasn't better organized for winners. These people needed better communication and more time. I hope Bdaiber has fun (and I also hope he doesn't have to sign some kind of no-talky agreement). But it sucks for Rip.

to Bdaiber: you'd better be taking notes and bringing back some sweet, sweet morsels for everyone.

This is the first pic we did it's pretty mild (check me out tearing up that live wire.)

You are not a mistake; God has never said "oops." Seek Him and you will find Him. Do not seek Him, and you will not find Him. He respectfully leaves the choice up to you.

Greetings, all.

I do not post that often. Only when things seem to get out of hand or I feel a word needs to be said do I venture into the forums. This is one of those times.

First off: For all of the hardest-of-the-hardcore fans out there that never had a doubt in their hearts what Bungie has at their best interest, way to go guys. This was a pretty disheartening turn of events. Some people lost faith, starting screaming that the sky was falling and that Bungie was a sellout company after all, and that greed motivates all people and it's what makes the world go round, that it was naive to believe that a group of people could actually care about their fans, and so on and so forth. There were a loud minority of people (not all of them represented on the forums, I'm sure) that started to come apart at the seams when it looked like all was going sour. Rather than wait, and see what Bungie (who've never let us down before) was going to do, they started making claims that Bungie had made some fatal mistake and that it had subjected it's fans to the evil nasty mega-corporations-that-be and that this was the beginning of a downward spiral.

*insert Gandalf's *THWAP* on the Steward of Gondor's head in the third film, after the steward cried out to abandon your posts and flee for your lives*

Bungie fans aren't these miniscule little naive gullible people that will fall into whatever corporate pothole that has the word Halo on it. We have enough common sense to know what a contest is and what the rules are and all that. (And some of us even know how to read the part that says "Yo, this is Bungie and MS, and uh, this Dew stuff ain't official Halo business, ya dig?") So enough with this "subjecting the fans to stuff" hoo-hah. It's balogna.

Second off: The silent majority of fans out there that sat there (the informed ones at least) with their fingers crossed, hoping that Bungie hadn't been taken advantage of, have no fear. Not only would Bungie not allow evil nastiness to get it's hand on the Halo franchise, but if someone did screw up along the way, and do some bogus crap like abuse it's fans, you'd better believe that Bungie would have the culprit's cajones in it's firm, insisting grasp persuading them that there should be recompense (and I have no doubt that Microsoft would be right there behind Bungie, backing them up if they needed it [for those who don't know, Microsoft is not what it once was, it's getting better]) . And if for whatever reason, their hands should be tied, they would personally make it up to the fans that were mistreated.

Third: Rip, man, what you've gone through really sucks. I hope it all works out to your satisfaction, and teaches you a hard-learned lesson about the dangers of "last minute promos" and such. Corps like Pepsi Co. really have no consideration for you past your monetary worth, ad or no ad. I'm sure the contact info will come through soon, but if not, have no fear, dude. Just.....chiiiiiill. You won't be gypped. And even if you are, Bungie will kiss it and make it all better, lol, they haven't forgotten their fans. So don't lose respect for Bungie, they haven't changed a bit. Still the same old Tijuana Mama (try the 300% hotter ones!) eatin', Covenant slayin', fan-pleasin' bunch that they have always been. Raft, that was a REALLY GREAT entry, but for whatever reason, whether we agree with it or not, it wasn't chosen. I'm really sorry to hear that, but there are reasons for things, perhaps they are sucky ones like "Hands popping out of TV's scare us...." but all you guys saying the contest was rigged because that entry didn't win compared to the other ones, should reconsider - anything left up to the opinion of "judges" that aren't from Bungie aren't going to have the same tastes that Bungie-derived ones would. I mean, who knows - maybe Rip's got a bad communication issue going on between him and this other dude, that is neither Rip's nor this other dude's fault. Don't makes assumptions and go on a rant about it.

Finally: Bungie rules. No doubt. They never screwed up. They have some mega awesome fans. This situation has shown that in spades. Even people that could've taken this in a bad direction didn't, and were sensible: loser shook hands with winner, vice versa, and then they helped each other out. Completely without malice or immature arguings or rivalry. This is a rare thing to see in a forum. Way to go guys. Also, this contest allowed us more "unambitious" (or perhaps just occupied) fans to see what the rest of the fan community was capable of, and it was really really cool. What's cooler is the fact that it isn't over yet, more people will end up submitting more stuff in days to come. Had I more $$$ (and time), my friends and I would've capitalized on a skydiving trip we're going to take, and would've been playing Halo and sipping Dew through Dew-er-ized Camel Backs, while plummeting towards the Earth - it was a small window of opportunity for a good high res photo, but hey, it would've been really cool. So thanks, all, for making these cool entries - sorry you didn't win, but thanks for making MY day and reminding me what an Elite Hardcore group of dudes I associate myself with when I say to other people "I'm a Bungie fan".

See y'all at Halo 50K3....

-Angel

I wouldn't expect to see an apology from Bungie even the contest was a sham. Dew did this and Bungie wasn't responsible, but I doubt that they would endanger their sponsorship by officially exposing Pepsico's fraudness with this contest. That could mean that future interest in contests would be lacking.

Now I'm not saying that Bungie, a company that really cares about their fans wouldn't do this anyway. But then again you have to remember that in the end Microsoft would be in charge in a matter like this.

Har. I'm not trying to whine....wait....yes i am.

I think that the winners are not to be blamed for anything other than doing what they thought would win. All the blame should be aimed at PepsiCo. for taking this contest and fornicating it in the ear with an iron rod.

Personally, i think their idea was not as creative or original as some of the others. [not just saying that becuase i worked with AlphaGray1002 on our Elite, and MC costumes which i think turned out nicely] I've seen other pics, such as the MC hand coming out of the TV. I think that should have won! It's very creative and for Forerunner's sake, the dude is covered in Dew. If that's not enthusiasm then i don't know what is.

Boo to you PepsiCo.
I'm a Coke fan, hardcore.
You're yellow beverage that has all the same properties as CAT URINE makes me SICK.
As does your failure to contact the winning team.
Not to mention....well, actually i'll mention the fact that you are cheap and only said you would provide the winners with $100 each. Come On! That's so gimp, you're a multi-million, or maybe even billion dollar conglomerate, and you can't afforf to pay about $2000 to fly the poor guys out to the photo-shoot.

Anyway, i appreciate all the feedback we got on our pics. I'll repost the links for you guys to look at some more. [btw, i'm the tard in the M.C. suit, and AlphaGray1002 is the Elite.]

Heretic Alpha - Read my post above.

We won too. And while it seems unfortunate that Rip had so many communication problems, we didn't. There was only one time, out of about 5 or 6 times, that the Mountain Dew contact didn't answer his phone. And to complain after the fact that you only get $100, when it's clearly stated in the rules is a void point. Sure its stingy, but it's also stated. I honestly think that Mountain Dew hasn't done much wrong. From my prospective, as a winner, Mountain Dew has been nothing but helpful and accommodating this far. I guess we'll have to wait and see how things go tomorrow.

Anyway, Congrats to all the winners. I hope you can get out there to enjoy the Halo 2 hands on.

See, now this (pic1 pic2) I can stand to lose to anyday! Nice job BDaiber! They definetely don't fit the 800x600 250K rule (but they might have compressed them to send them in for all I know), but they do look sweet. Either you guys have some SERIOUS connections or some SERIOUS disposable income to get all that Dew.

Have a great time and yes, please bring back as much info as you possibly can for all us non-connected/rich, not so good looking, not quite as creative or crazy (man, no way I'd go shirtless and painted ... too many hours sitting here at this desk has made for too much extra fat for that), losers ;) lol

Well the dude finally calls back and leaves a message at 11:00 last night. He ask if I received the email and if I had questions!!! I had questions yesterday morning, but now is to late. Anyway, it's going to be hard trying to get to WA and it's Friday!

For the guy that had great communication, your the lucky one I guess! I guess he likes returning your calls and email. My 2 cents is simple! Do not give me a cell number and tell me to call with confirmation and questions the next morning, if your not going to call back or answer!

Well I'm also glad the whole thing wasn't a sham. Congrads to BDaiber and his team for being able to go. If we could have had some kind of confirmation yesterday maybe we could have done something to get out to washington tommorrow. I really don't think its possible for us to make it out there now. Its not like we didnt send him an e-mail he hasnt responded to YET. We left him two messages on his phone that he didnt respond to until 11:00 p.m. last nigh ( and that was left on rips answering machine ). We are about to try calling again to see if he answers his phone today.

We just talked to him about game play! He said he will not know until this afternoon! I wish I could get some details on the gameplay, but oh well. Everything is being setup this afternoon, so he will have more information then.

It's a shame this was not planned better from the beginning. They want you to spend your money to play Halo 2 and you have no guarentee of the gameplay!

Hey it's possible.Rules from Mt Dew:
In the event the required documents are not returned within two (2) days to Sponsor, or if mail is returned as undeliverable mail without a forwarding address, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected.

But then there's also thisRules from Mt Dew:no transfer of prize to a third party is permitted So Mt Dew would have to be the ones to decide to offer the prize to somebody else. But still a suggestion from the ones not going might help.

Would I still go if they invited me? ... Yes, you know what, I think I would. Does that make me a sell out? I dunno. Does it reflect the fact that I love the work that Bungie puts out, yes. Heck, I would probably go just to be able to talk with the Mt Dew and Bungie people and let them know in person just how a lot of people here feel about this.

Well guys regardless of the details and wether or not my team goes I personally cant go. I just checked tickets and the cheapest tickets I could find were 786 bucks a peice and thats after driving two hrs from birmingham alabama to atlanta georgia. Then departing atlanta at 10:55p.m. and arriving Seattle 10:52 am the next day. Guys I love Halo and I would do just about anything to play some Halo 2, but if I did this someone would have to have me committed espicially since the guy could give us no details on anything this morning.

Well, thanks for all your support guys. I'll come back with as much info as I can. We definitly didn't buy all that dew. One of my friends (who doesn't even like halo!) works in the pepsi warehouse, and said he could help us out. Once we got there, this random forklift guy started stacking skids for us. Everything just seemed to work out well. In any event, the addresses for the two winners are

and

It's case sensitive, so you need to copy and paste. If these links go down, let me know via IM. I'll send them over. And also, those are the high res shots. I sent them pictures that fit the correct size.

Not try to be down on you guys, but I'm curious about something. If you knew you were going to have to fly and pay your way from the beginning of the contest, but you knew you weren't going to be willing to shell out the $$$, then why'd you guys enter? Again, please don't be offended, I'm just trying to understand the logic.
