I have just gotten permission from my dad to build our next PC. Right now I'm running a *cough* Celeron *cough* at 3.1GHz (oh, wait, minus 2GHz). With a nVidia GeForce2 MX400.

Basically the epitome of what the stickied PC guide said not to get.

So, for the next one, my dad said I can spend $700 (including shipping and any applicable tax to Georgia, USA). I've already come up with a list of parts that runs about that much from newegg.com, and I was just hoping that someone here might be able to come up with a better configuration.

Design a great PC for Halo (and other 3D graphics) for $700 that my family can still use for word processing and AIM, and it must run WindowsXP Home or Pro (dad's requirement).

Have you checked Tiger Direct?

They have better prices that newegg on some things.
