Subject: Forum that only lets in people who joined before November 9th

Pink, I oppose this idea, and I've been a member of bungie.net longer than pretty much everyone who posts here. My "problem" with the idea is that it smacks of irrational elitism. We'd just be blocking out all the nice decent members (there are lots of them) who joined since november, and keeping all the losers among the people who were here before. The worst thing would be that the knobs who were already a scabby patch on the community before November 04 would suddenly get this feeling of superiority over everyone who can't access this "special" forum. The community mix of the new forum would be pretty much identical to that of the entire community.

Right -- the main forums should be availiable to all. There are plenty of groups for "The OldSkool" such as the Wrk, Bungie Jumpers, Bungie Fans, etc... But even those don't discriminate based on join date. Most of the goal is to spread Bungie Awareness in accordance with the 7 Step Plan. It's a bad idea all around.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Thats what i said, but with alot more sarcasm

I agree fully with what GJJ said. We don't need a private forum or anything else whatsoever. Joining before doesn't mean you are better. The groups GJJ said above are good examples and if you want, you can always make a group and invite specific people. It is a bad idea overall.

Subject: Group that only lets in people who joined before November 9th

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Then how about a new group? Of course, it would have to be started up and organized and have the word spread. Mabye by PM to all the eligable members? That way it wouldn't get too popular, and those who weren't invited wouldn't really feel left out. I also just want to point out that elitism is nessesary in any society.

You would be incorrect -- Elitism exists, but always as a burden to the society. It's FAR from necessary. Anything further and this will be political, so I won't cite examples. But you are completely wrong --

Still you have the tools at your disposal to make your group -- go ahead and start it, maybe you will get the kind of people you are looking for.

You are aware that you are living in America? You know, "All men are created equal".(I don't mean to start any political discussion)

Not everyone on here is from America -- And that particular phrase really doesn't have anything to do with what we're actually discussing here, not in that context anyway.

I think this would be an excellent forum. It would get a place for people to escape from all the lying, annoying, have-to-post-in-the-Flood people. I liked the Flood forum before November 9th but now its just tonnes of crappy stupid pointless threads from people who joined after Nov 9th. So, Bungie, please could you make a new forum for people like me?

Heh, that cracks me up.

I remember a long time ago, when I got a couple of all-caps rude PM's from you. You probably don't remember, but I have a very good memory.

This is reminding me of "Rated R" or "Rated X" movies. They're not meant for people of a certain age. This is a similar idea with the forum for old members, keeping all the young'uns out. Too bad the member since date has nothing to do with age, and I think it would suck to be excluded from something because you didn't jump on the bandwagon in time, people deserve equal opportunities. That was not meant to be political in any way.

If people want a forum with old people I suggest making a group with old people. What's the point though? There are really some people that are good here. Now I don't know about in some of the last few months, but some people that joined a little less than a year ago are ok.

Maybe but most of them are banned so they might just as bad but there wont be as many of them... Ofcorse it'll be unfare to the people who behave properly, but still. Actually that idea of making a Group with people who joined before Nov. 9th wasn't such a bad idea I'm ready if you guys are...

To Reiginko:
I understand your opinion and oppose, but does that mean that we aren't allowed to make a group like that? even if there are enough interested?

All groups have some sort of special membersip requirements anyway, but maybe we could make a group for the socalled "good guys"... what about that??

Yeah, I joined slightly after so it would suck.

Edit: Sorry if my post didn't look correct, but I do appose the idea of this. It's not fair for people like me and others who have just joined recently.

Not going to happen.

  • 05.10.2005 8:20 AM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

We dont really need it. The Septagon is just fine. All the retards are in New Mombasa, Zanzibar, and Optimatch complaining about BR starts, Burial Mounds, and lag. And the mods keep this forum clean, as they focus on it more than the others. This is the safe haven from the chaos of the other forums.

Yo, you suck man. Its probubly just one person trying to bug the shiat out of people.

  • 05.10.2005 2:04 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

yes of course there were retards before the 9th(Mithrandir, Canolie, davester88,sockman), and they had their spamming runs, but there are no rampant spammers here anymore(for the moment). like i said, this "exclusive" forum is unnecessary, and would just repel new members and/or make older B.net members look like stuck up bastards

It would be cool though to have a custom fourm that is specialized to remove flamers and people with rather rude personalities. Although that would be next to impossible with the amount of people complaining about how they lost a game because they got a gametype they disliked.

Okay, so let me get this straight. You want some elitist jerk forum setup so that you and everyone who joined before a certain date can chat with each other without posts from those "inferior" fans that joined up after Halo 2 was released.

However, you don't even know that you're not allowed to bump threads in the forum?

Not that we were considering your idea before, but congrats on invalidating your opinion so concisely. Thread locked, topic dropped.
