"Seems to me you should spend less time on that article and more time working on that novel you've been working on!!!"

Is there a way to get the option to renew my Bungie Pro? Because that option that is supposed to be at the bottom of the fileshare isn't there anymore, and I can't find it anywhere else!

I think it should be per-second billing because even if you go a few seconds over, it charges a whole minute.

Bungie, don't be a mean cell phone company =/

That's a question worth answering - each clip, no matter how long, takes a certain amount of our machine time as overhead, loading the clip. It's about 30 seconds of wasted time per clip, So your 1-second clip costs you 60 seconds of Points and costs us 31 seconds of machine time. But your 59-second clip costs us 89 seconds of machine time and still costs you 60 seconds of Points. In the end, it comes out even.

Say you have an awesome clip, but you can only show it to people who have halo 3, and you can only access it through the game. Say you don't have a graphics card that allows you to put those cool videos onto your computer and upload them to a video viewing site, such as all the machinimas you've seen. This rendering ability will let you download your clip to your computer as a movie file that you can then post on the webernets, without buying a graphics card. amidoinitrite?

Also, my question is at the top of the page, maybe I scratch someone's back, they scratch mine, eh???

Anybody want a peanut?

Will we ever be able to embed these Rendered Videos to a forum or website?

  • 05.19.2009 3:00 PM PDT

Could we specify whether to render things such as the timebar, status bars, and or crosshairs? Or do you do that in the movie clip "recording" process?

I change my mind about this render to video thing.

It VERY convenient when using this site. You can even render your friends clips for them.

and it actually gives more to the Bungie Pro members.

what will bungie cook up next?

Well that was dissapointing....

HD capture card's aint cheap but you can use them for so much more than Halo videos, plus you could always stick it on ebay when your done.

if knowledge is power and power corrupts, isn't knowledge therefore dangerous?
Black Tower

is saving up points right now useless?
or are beta points going to be usable in the real one? or will they be removed, and i'll need to start saving up again?
im kinda confused by what it says in the update >_>

Can we get a picture of hydra? I'm a total computer nerd and would love to see how it works on the hardware end. My guess is that it's a bunch of 360's hooked up with capture cards.

Will the videos ever be rendered into h.264?

  • 05.30.2009 8:59 AM PDT

so if I wanted to make a video with a whole bunch of clips from my friends and I. All the clips even if they are roughly all averaging around 15seconds would charge me per minute?

Bit excessive if you ask me but I guess you have to make money. Although I still think purging all renders after a week would work sufficently in keeping your space free and allowing users to download their own videos.

Question: When the real thing comes out, (7/7 is what I have understood from reading this) do we subscribe to Bungie PRO on 7/7, or is it just that we have Bungie PRO when it comes out?

Wow!!!! Thank you for this feature, this is the best thing on Bungie.net! This is what we've been waiting for!

Now anybody can watch videos in the File Share just by clicking "watch this video" on the item and then clicking "play" in the online player! The videos take a few seconds to render, but it only has to be done once -- then the Bungie Media Player (Silverlight) appears on the item in the File Share.

I tested the new feature with one of my favourite videos from my File Share, in which I acquire a sneaky camping-style:

Rendered Video example: my Killing Spree with the Gravity Hammer on Guardian.

Anybody can watch the video online -- even if they're not logged in! (I chose SD quality, not HD.)

I've tagged all my rendered videos as "rendered" so people can easily find videos that can be instantly played online.

Enjoy!!!!!

P.S. Please give me 1 more minute of rendering time, even just 1 more minute so I can do 1 more video! I'm a Bungie Pro subscriber and always have been. One video per month is killing me, I want to show this to people! I'm a Microsoft developer so my interest in this feature goes beyond gaming, this is revolutionary, a big step in the evolution of gaming and online entertainment!!

I love how, when I suggested Bungie creating a service for video download or upload to youtube (back in June 2008), people posted things like "there is no way!" or "Bungie doesn't have time for that" and my personal favorite "somewhere in Bungie, a programmer is crying", well... bullocks to that. Thank you Bungie, for shutting up all the nay-sayers. I'm gonna go redeem my 5 points for a well-deserved HD rendering.

Please, could you give us some idea how soon we can start buying Bungie Points to get more Render Minutes?

We have a big offline tournament coming up this weekend. A lot of the players don't have XBL accounts. We'll be desperate to see some clips of the carnage. We can't wait a month, the frustration will kill us!

Please, give us a link for buying render minutes. I'm not being greedy here and asking for hundreds of render minutes -- another 5 would be enough! :)

It would be nice if your fileshare would tell you how many views you have and how many downloads to computer and downloads to counsel you've had.

This is great, but I am wondering if, with a point system, I would be able to make a decent length Machinima because it sounds like there is an additional fee for any rendered videos. So I am wondering if Bungie has considered the Machinima creators with this new system.

This is by far one of the greatest things Bungie has done with halo 3 and B-net.

Good Job Guys

This will lead to more halo videos out on the web which in the long run will lead to more fans of halo 3 and equally as important more sales of halo gear and other Bungie like things.

I'm a paid Bungie Pro subscriber, and have been since 2008 when I got into making wallpapers and such and needed more screenshot room. In any case, being a paid subscriber, I was very excited to hear about this beta, and decided to try it out, but I got the message "available only to Bungie Pro subscribers". What happened???

edit: nevermind, works fine now. thanks Bungie!

You know what would be awesome?

I do.

If I could use Facebook Share and actually post the video to my profile. Bungie doesn't understand the potential of ASS I can get! I can show the ladies my sweet ass TRIPLE KILL!

No seriously, using Facebook Share and to be able to use an embed video on my facebook profile will make me want to be a Pro Subscriber until Halo: Olajuwon comes out.

Thank you.

Please :)

Cool, but honestly, what's up with the 'pay for everything'? I understand that you only have 500GB right now... but what about the playlists? There are about 3-4 playlist games where you could play without any paid DLC. Now, this, what everyone was waiting for, costs money for every second you render. It would be 20x easier for me to get a capture card and enjoy the rest of my life without paying for my recording. You know? Not everything has to be worth money. You can still have points and have members earn them in some other type of way. With all that money you've earned by now you're supposed to be on 500TB.

What's next? Recon for sale?

EDIT
And same goes to rendering time. With all that money you got from the DLC's you can upgrade your rendering system. C'mon Bungie, aren't you the guys that created the BEST game so far? That was sold to thousands and millions of people? That costs $50? That's being used as the main game for MLG? To which every PS3 and PC fanboy gets jealous?

While it may be that it costs you guys 31 seconds for a one second clip, it also wouldn't be a huge stretch for you guys to not be as -blam!- cheap as the cellphone companies.
Would it be a huge stretch of imagination to allow us to combine videos until 59 seconds?
Man see that would make sense, WHILE losing valuable jewishly "earned" money, which is exactly why you won't do that. Ur dumb.
