Thanks guys, I've been waiting for this :)

-squeals- Oh, this is awesome. My first clip rendered in less than 10 minutes, though it's only 23 seconds long. It looks sweet. I'll upload it to Youtube and check the quality there.

Live Free, or Die!

I believe Bungie is simply putting out this Beta to test the system that the videos will work on not the pay as you go feature. I do not believe they are setting up the pay as you go feature for the long term. This seems like a way of limiting the users of the test system as a whole to prevent a system wide crash. It is very standard when releasing a new product that potentially millions will use. Just my two cents.

My Best Bungie moment: finally beating all the Halo games on solo legendary.
My Worst Bungie moment: not seeing giant stuffie grunts in the Bungie store.

Bungie never disappoints.

Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D

While I understand the reason behind the Bungie Points, it's still ruined the dreams of hundreds, nay, thousands, of 7-year-old Machinima fans, who, because of this feature, will be unable to release an incoherent, rushed, 1337-tastic new episode of teh advanchirs ov guy & pursin every two days like they planned.

Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother,
My sisters and my brothers,
Lo there do I see the line of my people
Back to the beginning.
Lo do they call to me,
They bid me take my place among them
In the halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave shall live
Forever.

w00t! Already got my four videos rendered!

Yeah....

That sucks, at least make the people with mythic maps eligible. I can't just be wasting money, I have plans for it. It should be like the skate 2 rendering, fr33.

You know the music, time to dance...Now's one of those times, pays to be the strong silent type...9/22/09

Call me Ander. It's my nickname.

This is awesome. I rendered 3 SD clips just now, and each of them was about 30 seconds and took about a minute to render. The SD already looks really nice, so I'm betting the HD will look amazing. Thanks for this feature Bungie!

no some of us had gotten the mythic maps with halo wars and some of us already had bungie pro, support your favorite game they support you back thanks Bungie! :)
Yes, well not all of us are 12 year old pricks whose parents buy them anything they want.

.

your 100% right.

steps to get bungie pro:

1. get a job
2. get a checking account
3. put your pay check in to said checking account
4. use money in checking account to buy microsoft points
5. use said points to purchase Bungie Pro

1. I was just making a statement
2. They're making billions of dollars off of Halo anyways.
3. I'm not gonna argue about it.

I have a question about the charging.

I'm not complaining because I know it cost money to do this but I was wondering why the difference.

over at www.easportsworld.com you can upload Madden Highlights, download them to your computer, it also hyper links to post on myspace, facebook etc.

http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/3643023

Now I know it is not the best quality of video, but it is pretty good for SD and it is also free. And what I am wondering is how they are able to do that for free for so many users while Bungie is making a similar product that is probally going to cost an unknow price per minute? And you also have to purchase Bungie Pro.

Shame about the non-dlc pro and that you can't buy your way into the beta, but oh well I can wait until the full version comes out to buy bungie pro :D

Amazing work bungie, Keep it up!

I'm just wondering generally, how many people are using the beta right now? I'm loving it so far, but it seems none of my friends have it and so I can't share any of my videos with them. Is there a place where I can share my videos with others? Without spamming any forums?

  • 05.13.2009 12:42 AM PDT

A quick question:

I rendered a video just now, but it didn't have my suicide text in the bottom left of the screen. On a multi-kill video I have all that text and medals there, but on the video where it's near impossible to tell I committed suicide, it doesn't show it. Is there a way to turn that on/off?

  • 05.13.2009 12:59 AM PDT

Self-proclaimed genius.
Roam the streets with a sign, "will love for false hope."

This is great, though, it seems that people are forgetting the purpose behind Render-To-Video.

This isn't Machinima. As a few people said way earlier in this thread, getting a capture card is still the way to go. But I'm a Halo 3 player and not an epic movie director. If I want to post my awesome Perfection onto Youtube, I had no way of doing that myself. Now I do because Bungie allows me to change my films and film clips into videos through Bungie.net. That's epic win for people like me who don't have the time or money to invest in a capture card for machinima.

As long as these Point Minutes aren't $10 each, then I don't see it as being a huge deal. They even give you free points with patience. It's no different than going to a friend or a community website and saying "I'll give you a dollar to transfer my Halo 3 saved film clip to a YouTube video." The difference is that friend is allowing us to do it ourselves, which is generally going to be more preferred, correct? People love doing things themselves because they believe they can do it better. =P

The option is here. Whether you use it or not is up to you. Why must people complain or blow things off because it wasn't what they expected? You still have your other options if you got those already. Bungie tried very hard to get this to work, which I'm certain is not an easy feat to do autonomously, just so the community has another interactive option for their favorite video game beyond simply playing it. Be proud of that.

Kudos, Bungie. <3

~ManBearPig_06~

No crosshairs, films being cut before they finish, single angles, pay for h3 then live then pro then bungie points, doesn't seem to have been thought out much more than 'make money'.
I've spent $130 for the game, $40 for the maps (hooray for the game letting you buy legendary maps multiple times!), $9.37 on Bungie pro, plus various amounts on picture packs/themes, and now you are saying you are going to make me pay more for a barely workable feature?

Make it so you can only render a certain amount per day, cumulative through the week or something for bandwidth issues if you must.
Allow a checklist for display types (no hud, hud, hud and run time) and first/third person. Free cam can be set up with clips, but neither you nor us want to make a clip of an entire game for a third person view (the file would be huge). Since this is the beta, I can assume -blam!- like this will be addressed, but so far it's just looking like another money making scheme like splitting a map pack in two and keeping the previous one not free.
