Yeah I was wondering if bungie had something to help recover product keys using numbers off the bar code on the box or something? They put the stupid key on the little paper CD case and I lost that back in 06. I have the box still so if there is anyway to show them proof of ownership can they give me my original key back? Even if I have to get on a web cam and hold up the box as proof I'll do it.

If the game was installed on your PC and you removed it then the CD key may still be in your registry

Rather than spending money on the web cam its probably better to spend $20 on a new copy of Halo.

According to he manual, you will want to call microsoft (1-(425) 637-9308 ) or check around the site below to try and contact them for technical support.

(Ok so the manual says just visit support.microsoft.com but I did some digging for convenience)

More than likely, if you have everything but the product key, you should be able to prove you have a legitimate copy. I remember there is a certificate of authenticity on the top of the box, but more than likely they might ask for the information given to you during installation, or possibly information off of the actual cd (I remember my dad having to do something like this for XP where there is writing on the center ring of the compact disc)

The bottom line is as long as you can prove you own a genuine copy, they should be able to help. =)
