Well, it's not really a battle, but the response chewy and I have had so far in laying the foundation for the thread "War Within A Breath" tto the Septagon from the mods so far has not been pleasant. If you feel strongly about this, please post in the new thread. Also realize you may be blacklisted.

I suggest you do this ASAP - I fear the thread will be locked very shortly!!!

Again! War Within A Breath has been brought to The Septagon - let us join the battle!

I think that goweb has just -blam!- a pile of bricks over this. Do I go in and say anything or hold my tongue? Hard decisions...

And on top of that, it's one thing sounding off in a thread in The Maw, but it's now time to post again where we are starting to get blackl... sorry, get responses.

I know that my thread started all of this, but 'war within a breath' recieved a good response and if anyone can post in that, why not now we have some attention? That goes for anyone who posted...

Well, if anyone has been back I posted a pretty long-winded post, and also outlined explicitly what would help here, and what everyone seems to want. They can't overlook us now. We've taken it outside The Maw. I want to save this forum like you guys, and if they want to blacklist us all for trying to point out problems and solve the issues, we'll all get blacklisted together. A mass blacklisting would actually grab even more attention, so it wouldn't really be in their interest.

It's amazing how many of the original posters have turned out for this...

Ty for responding Recon. You're the first mod we've had respond to a Maw-based thread.

Well, Recon, you gotta remember that there are other, somewhat easier to offend mods than you. We've also PM'd numerous mods. Maybe you would have been better.

It beats me why good and bungie are on opposite sides.

In any case, when it comes to your shock, that's what's happening around here. And we're pissed . We began the battle on another front, and are awaiting results.

I hope we can come to some sort of agreement,

All I can say is that I'm glad that we are now recieving a decent response. Thankyou for your time and interest in this problem, but I hope it continues so that we can finally bring The Maw back to how it should be.

I fear that the problem will not go away though, and given maybe just a week or two, we are going to feel the brunt of bringing this issue to the surface. I know you say that we shouldn't feel as if we are going to be blacklisted for speaking our minds about issues here, but in reality, that is what happens.

Well Recon,"the problem" is that us in the PC part of town get let down, dissapointed by bungie and we realy get pissed and annoyed at some(most) of the xbox players who pay us ocasional visits and insult flame and so on and don`t get banned or anything....just comparing the PC forum with the xbox forum is horific...we don`t say as many things that are in violation of the Code of conduct, yet we get blacklisted by some of the mods...why? -blam!- frustration is not a good enough reason to ban someone explaning what a keygen is...not suggesting to actualy get one or talking about where to get one(bit of a joke/rant with that -blam!-y frustrated part :P)...we expect fairness and decency...and HALO 2 FOR PC :P

Recon, you seem like a decent sort of bloke... the sort we actually need to have around, but certain other mods are either power mad, spitefull or just downright nasty.

There has been a problem here for some time now and at the end of the day, it all comes back to the ONLY mod who seems to have been at all active within The Maw. The longer that these posts have been going on, the more of a picture I have been forming of who is actually doing thier job as a mod, and those who aren't...

Now, the other thread in The Septagon there are repeated mentions of informing the mods of any offending posts and trouble makers that we encounter, but we HAVE been informing the mods! I can't really speak for anyone else, but I personnally have contacted Goweb on several occasions about bad threads and trouble makers, always without a response... always.

On top of that, a sticky was created called 'The Map Vault' which was supposed to be for the benefit of those people who are new to Halo CE so that they could easily find several good maps to get them started. Now, I PM'd Goweb about the sticky and to find out what it was exactly that he wanted to try and achieve, and I then went out of my way to contact several of the Halo CE websites out there to see if they would permit us to link to several of thier files, but the unanimous reply was a big 'no'.

Feeling that I still had something to offer, I redisgned my old website to showcase the 40 or so decent maps that most agree are worthy, hosted the site and then notified Goweb... No response! At all... not even a 'no thanks' after I had gone to all the effort of trying to help the community out.

I have also recieved a blacklisting myself recently, but I actually have no clue as to why. I have also heard some of you mods say that you do actually give an explanation to the person you blacklist, but even after sending emails I still have no clue! I've been here a while and pride myself on NEVER having been blacklisted and always trying to be helpfull, but obviously someone else doesn't think so...

As I'm sure you are starting to become aware by now, I am not a unique case, and while flaming and talk of illegal activities are allowed to continue, the good people here are getting the rough end of the stick.

I am aware that the fact I've openly named a certain mod isn't going to go down too well, but I am truly sick and tired of having to watch what I say in case I get a permanent ban or an extended period of blacklisting... I am aware of the rules and have survived here as long as I have by abiding by them... I'm not a child or a teenager either and I'm fed up being treated as if I've done something wrong or I'm about to! I'm 35 years old, have several children along with the other half... Would be nice to be treated as such, you know?

The only reason I still spend so much time here in spite of the way things have turned out is because I have spent a great deal of time (and money) supporting the Halo PC/CE community, I enjoy trying to help others if I can and I am housebound due to injury.

I think that maybe you should all take a really good look at what's actually going on here and weed out anyone who hasn't been doing the job that they were elected for. People may start out with good intentions, but we all change over time, and someone IS NOT doing the moderating as it should be, or indeed, expected of them.

I would like to be able to say that I'm sorry for sounding so angry, but unfortunately, I can't. I would be a fraud if I did. I am also expecting to come off worse here, but at the end of the day if you can't air your problems to the people who are in a position to listen and maybe do something about it, is there much point in being in such a place?

I was blacklisted by the soul. If it went rampant, and it is fixed now, than part of the problem is fixed. I believe this problem has mutated, starting the random blacklisting and now incorporating many other things. From what I hear from other people and from myself is that we feel the mods should strive to make a more positive connection with the Maw users. I say the Maw because I don't go to the other forums enough to see if they are the same or not. Some problems which we see in the Maw are inconsistant closure or deleting of threads, and inconsistant blacklisting (this may have been the soul). I think that instead of making the Maw for Halo PC it might be better to make it for the community of Halo PC. You do have an Off Topic forum but its not the same. Maybe having a definition of Off Topic posting would be a good thing to add.

I personnally have contacted Goweb on several occasions about bad threads and trouble makers, always without a response... always.
Except a deleted/locked thread and/or a banned user.

I never respond to reporting PMs.
I've done nothing to the Map Vault yet for the simple reason that I have been very busy. I do have a life outside this site.

I intended to try the maps before adding them. When I made the thread, I wasn't in a position to do this. Now that I am, I've been swamped with work. So you'll just have to be patient.

EDIT: Too late. Recon got there first.

Maybe having certain mods do certain forums. That might releave the ammount each one has to do. It may also create more work for you, but I think that it is a viable option that would work as well if not better than the current system.

'Taking up the gauntlet' - I suppose that's our own way of insuring that we don't go so quietly into that good night as chewy did - for a short time.

Seriously, I understand that things should be kept between the blacklistee and the blacklister, but if we smell foul play, we're going to do something about it.

I've said this many times before - I don't -blam!-, I act. I understand where you're coming from Recon, but I also believe that in this particular instance our actions were justified. From now on, I will do my best to keep all that you ave said in mind.

Thanks for the responses and diligence in handling this matter, Recon.

Thank you Recon, I appreciate your effort. If I have a problem, I know who to go to to get it resolved (so long as it violates forum rules).

In any case, we can let this die down now. We now know that there's this "soul" thing somewhat rampant in the system, and that we have to be careful where we log in. Threads are a different matter, but the argument should be kept between the creator and the mod, along with by-a-mod blacklistings.

Did I miss anything?

Once again, thanks for dealing with this matter in a reasonable, non-flaming manner.

My personal Thanks to everyone who actively participated in this matter - you know who you are, and I'm glad that you spoke up. Good job guys! Let's keep in mind how to handle things in the future so that we don't end up repeating what has happened here.

And so it ends!...

'every official that come in
cripples us leaves us maimed
silent and tamed
and with our flesh and bones
he builds his homes'

Or does it?...

time will tell!
