Chaplain's end result may be correct, I never stated otherwise, he simply had a bad theory to deduce it. I do agree that Humans are Forerunner but I did not make a baseless theory about it, and don't attack people that disagree with me...
What he failed to realize in his jealous tyrade, is that just because the thought process works, people are going to question it, I actually have gotten to the point where I will not respond to him anymore. Eagle's theory matches my thought's only by 70% but he came up with a good explanation for it, and his theory is a theory based in literature that could be proven with little extenuating evidence.
I do not respond to Chaplain about the issues, because he is stubborn, and seems to twist his words to fit circumstance. I am sure his idea about Humans being Forerunner is correct, but I disagree with his logic process and his theory in general was poorly thought out. As he does research however, he has been adding to his theory and making it better. All he needs to do is work on his attitude.
But back on topic, the Flood were not destroyed by the rings last firing, which leads me to the conclusion that anything on the Halo itself is protected from the blast. Remember Cortana's line when you reinserted the Index, 'Halo doesn't kill Flood, it kills their food.'
I'm not sure if it's direct, but it is close enough. It seems that if it would destroy anything with the biomass to support the flood (which, presumably, would include the hosts) then the Flood would have had to survive the first firing, by being on the ring.
