Why Bungie?

I just saw this video and was watching in aww. It was amazing to see what a great level that would have been to have on Halo 2. Was there a specific reason it got removed? Everything was so amazing looking. That awesome cannon that you see in Halo 3 that owned everything especially.

The scene with the men all injured and the massive area to roam around in was amazing also. Just answer this, why?

Okay the cannon is cool but the level is crap overall. It's a seven minute long piperun. And all other elements were preserved, just remixed. People just refuse to admit it would suck to play because they think it's cool to hate everything that is actually in Halo and love everything that isn't.

Not really.

This video was released long before Halo 2 was. My opinions, and quite probably a lot of other people's opinions, on how good it looked were formed at that point - quite a while before I had any clue what would turn out to be in halo 2.

It looked great to me for a number of different things, and all of those are things I would have much preferred to see in halo 2 when it did come out.

Well the level wasn't even completed. It would have been much longer and even better given some time.

I have serous doubts that it was even running on an Xbox. The released version of the game looks worse than what they showed at E3 and the Xbox still choked with pop in textures everywhere. I'm confident that the main reason this level wasn't in the final game is because the Xbox hardware couldn't run it.

Bungie basically OVER ESTIMATED, too much, the power of the xbox. the early stuff was freaking insane a ridiculous. xbox live was so detailed, custom armour, theater mode omfg.

but yeah that ending was one of the reason i bought h2 i wanted to see if he actually got out of that situation in the end with the elites. but that came out in like 2003, i saw concept art of the ghost being shaved off in loads of xbox mags.

Xbox could handle that. A lot of the levels in Halo 2 were massive like this taken out level.

The size of the level has nothing to do with it. I noticed tons of graphical features that were not present in the final version. The marines, the Pelican, New Mombasa and especially the Chief were more sharply detailed with much better lighting throughout the demo.

What I heard was it was running on an xbox, but the entire thing was an on-rails pre-planned affair created just to be a demo, that could not have panned out into a full playable game.

Because that level ALONE crashed a bunch of Xboxes. It couldn't be supported.

However, I would pay $25 just to have that level available as a download (or even a disc) for the 360.

I've seen that level before. One thing I loved about it are the downed marines and human blood. People being helped and marines hurt shows that the war you're fighting is a walk through the park. That level shows that you're not just kicking everybody's ***.

It adds this sense of drama to the game the other levels did not have.

Bungie said that they used that demo, to show their new Geometry with creating this game, so gamers could see it the progress was going.
