Because the 6600gt needs atleast 300watt,and im not sure i got that.

If you open both sides of your case, on one side or the other you should be able to make out the wattage along with the voltage rails. If you can't, pop out the psu.

It's also important to consider how strong the 5+ and 12+ volt rails are.

SLD - should you mention that lower-end PSU's generally don't live up to their wattage ratings? Or is that only a problem when you get up to around 500 watts?

Yes, for the most part most psu's out there cannot hold their wattage, in fact they run under it. It doesn't matter at what wattage you're looking into, each has some rockstars and then some useless ones.

I would say that what makes a psu is if its rails are quality, ie the 5v and 12v rails, and also if it can deliver its advertised wattage continuously. This requires about $60+, but it's worth it.
