Subject: Will my Laptop Run Halo 2 Vista?

You don't kick a man when they're down, so don't teabag me when I'm dead!

I don't know the exact specs. I think my laptop has enough processor stuff and enough RAMs but i don't know anything about graphics cards and odds are, because I have a laptop, my one sucks.

But I did a dxdiag and this is what I got for my laptop's specs:

General

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

Memory: 3062MB RAM

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs) ~ 2.0GHz

DirectX Version: DirectX 10

Display (Graphics Card)

Name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip Type: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
DAC Type: Internal
Approx. Total Memory: 358MB

I'm aware that words like "chipset" and "Vista" aren't good things to see in a computer that you want to get a game for. But do you guys think that it will work?

It will "run" but very badly cause of the video card. Pretty much anything with "integrated video" will not run halo 2 vista well

Define "badly"

Bad frame rate or bad graphics or will it freeze or what?

Bad frame rates. You wont know whats going on until you die because of the lag. You might be okay if you play at 800x600 and lowest detail

Never mind then. I'll buy it on the xbox.

Not sure. My iMac will run it fine.

Most likely no. I have a 945GM intel graphics chipset which is basically the older cousin to yours. And it struggles horribly. It will refuse to run Halo 2, and Half Life 2 I was just lucky enough to get to work, but some parts still have incredibly bad frame rates.

Vista is not bad, it was just really buggy when it was new, and now it is fixed and better than any other OS. And an integrated graphics card is not such a good thing, I'll be somewhat surprised if it runs Halo without it making you want to gouge your eyes out.

Agreed.

Intergrated graphics cards are worthless, mine has problems with Diablo 2 :|

Vista on the other hand is good.

Just need a proper graphics card, about 3-4 gig ram and you should be laughing.

Try Crysis. If that works, you're set.

The 965 express chip family is extremely bad for gaming. I didn't get to test out that much of H2V while in Vista on my Macbook (also a 965 express chip) but it ran decently at lowest quality/maxed out resolution. At least, that is what I remember.

Chipset and Vista is good, but integrated chipset and Vista is NOT good.

You should test it out though.

If you are looking for a new computer, then Newegg is a great place to go for cheap computers/parts/laptops/games/other.
