I was just thinking how evidence seems to be pointing to there being multiple new races within the Covenant, of course including the Brutes who seem to be hyped up as really tough heavy weapons specialists.

With these new races, I was thinking that the Hunters may be upset that their niche in the Covenant hierarchy is being disrupted by the newcomers. This combination of the fact that they were forced to unwillingly join the Covenant in the first place, and they are now possibly deemed unnecessary and unwanted by the Prophets could lead to an alliance between the Hunters and the Humans.

Also the fact that there has been little to no info regarding the Hunters in Halo2, leads me to believe that something like this is possible to happen.

Either way I wouldn't be at all surprised if one or more of the Covenant races join the Humans in Halo2.

People keep getting the idea that Brutes are newcomers.... Can someone please show me where they get this idea from? O-o

I agree, they're not. They're holy warriors, elite amongst elite and sent on only the most important missions. We just haven't seen them before because they haven't been sent against us.

They may not be new to the Covenant but their role could be changing to fill the role the Hunters once had. Plus I didn't necessarily mean that the Brutes are the ones taking the Hunters role, but one of these new secret Covenant races. Possibly the ones that can "flip over a Warthog."

Realistically, even if the Hunters decided to leave the Covenant and attempt to join the human force, would humans really allow them to do that? Who wouldn't believe that it is a completely bad idea to allow a former enemy to join your side and who knows, possibly end up betraying you too eventually.

I dont know, it really would be a plot twist in Halo. But it would seem really surreal siding with Hunters, almost too surreal.

brutes have always been in the covenant if you study the human covenant war in the early stages we only saw grunts and jackals then later on hunters were first seen it was not until the battle for reach that we saw elites and now brutes
there could be several more races that we see as the game progresses

well we havent seen anything on hunters yet, and as the covenants walking tank i dont think they're going to be replaced in a hurry. Besides brutes are more similar to elites than to hunters. and if theres a race thats concerned about brutes becoming more dominant then (duh) its the elites.

i expect that something news going to be going on with hunters, but maybe its just bungie doing it right and getting them built properly before showing anything.

i still reckon that even with the inclusion of brutes hunters are still the strongest of the covenant shown so far... Just got to wait!!!

Even if they sided with us, what would we give them as a gun? An assault rifle? Because we sure as hell wouldnt be giving them a fuel rod gun, because we dont have those. And what are we going to do, put kevlar on them, they arent BORN with their armor on, they wouldnt have that big shield, no armor and no fuel rod gun, they would be incredibly easy to kill, a flybite would kill them because Im guessing that under the armor, their whole body is that orange stuff.
