This is probably too in depth for anybody to know yet but i thought i would ask anyway.
Does anyone know if the weapon switching system is the same as it wasin halo1. Since you cant melee or grenade while duel wielding, its useful to be able to switch and melee fast. Because in halo1 one can literally switch weapons and melee as fast as you could without switching weapons. so it would be useful to hit someone with 2X plasma rifles or something and then switch to anything else and smack em in the face

Probably won't be the same since the "Y" button is to pick up the other weapon. I bet it will be the "B" button since you cant meele, and to switch back it would be the "Y" button. Thats just what I think, I could be wrong but then again you never know.

No, because you press the melee button to STOP duel wielding so that would make much sense

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

While dual weilding if you tap the Y button you switch to you holstered weapon, drop your left hand gun, and holster your right hand one. I believe this is how it worked at E3 2004.

Did you Drop the weapon? I thought you just switch over and you could switch back, so if you were really hardcore like im probably gonna be, you could have 2 sets of 2 guns.

Ive seen plently of movies and learned quite a bit, like i didnt know the plasma rifle was duel wieldable until recently. But you cant really tell in the movies, not only do they not switch weapons very often but its a little chaotic.
Im guessing you dont drop your weapon because in the 8 minutes E3 video he switch bewteen 2X SMG's and the BR, i dont recall him dropping either, but im not sure if he switched back to the SMG's. althought im only thinking about the part before he gets into the warthog he may have switched before i dont remember

  • 07.15.2004 10:01 PM PDT

Dude, i was kidding. Seriously, you should take it so seriously. Y, if you watch the e3 2003 and 4 videos, puts away both weapons, and switches them for your holdstered weapon. Melee, B, drops the weapon in your left hand.

That would be awesome. Me and my friends always have huge LAN party and I own all of them, just image 4 guns so when the first 2 run out of ammo then switch to the other 2 so you dont have to reload at the momment

I think Bungie has said you cannot hold 4 weapons. It is different from E3 2003 to 2004. In 2003 you could switch back and forth, you could aslo get into a vehicle without droping you off hand weapon. In 2004 you drop you off hand weapon when you switch weapons or get into a vehicle. This change may be for everything or may only be for MP. The boarding is different from SP to MP so why not the weapon holding system.

That would kind of suck.
Im not saying im actully going to use 4 weapons, i just thought it was possible. But its going to be kind of retarded if you have to drop your 2nd weapon whenever you make any trasnstion

In MP for the Ghost you just press X and you hop up and kick them out.

In SP for the Ghost you press X then hop up. Now you can decide what to do shoot the drive, plant a plasma grenade and jump off, or just kick him out. You get more choices in SP.

Though Jaimie has said in the E3 demo 2004 that the Warthog had a w step boarding process that no one figured out when you boarded from the front when there was a driver and passenger. So on some vehicles in MP you do get a choice of options sometimes.

And you might be able to have 4 guns come November everthing is subject to change during play testing.

Well maybe for the tutorial on how to do it,. but not in the game. Once you know what the buttons and options are you won't think twice about what button to hit.

Once you hit X the first time you will just sit on the hood until you decide what to do next.

Oh i see, can the driver somehow shake you off if you sit there too long wondering which would be the coolest way to get rid of the driver.... Hmm plasma nade and hope he drives into more enemies... or hijack it and then run him over (if you can run stuff over in sp halo2) or mabye it was just jackles you couldent run over with ghosts for some reason

I think that if you sit there too long trying to fiqure out what you are gonna do they can get you off, kinda like repeling your boarding attempt

ok, in single player, it was a two step process with options, as in you get on it, gameplay keeps going, and you gotta hit a button to do what ya gotta do to get them off. In an update it was mentioned that this wont happen in multiplayer as it is hectic enough and you just want to get right into the playing. If you want the passenger's seat, then board from the passenger side, if you want the gunner seat, get in from the back, and finally, driver seat, get in from the driver's side, there is no two step process in the multiplayer mode (as of yet anyway, they may have even taken it out in the single player... everything is subject to change!)

wrong. if u have 2 smgs and switch to ur battle rifle. the rifle will come up and u will holster BOTH smgs. Bungie has stated this many many many times. y dont u people listen

Whether it's been stated or not, everything said here is subject to change and wont be confirmed until the game is in your XBox. Personally, I'd rather NOT be able to holster both weapons, gameplay issues aside. I'd rather dual wielding be a temporary thing you use to overpower someon, not something you have in your back pocket whenever you want. Just my opinion
