Okay this is my first attempt at making a story. Well Here it goes
Ch.1 The Arrival Year: 2015
I startled as we drove over a bump. I told the driver to slow down but he insisted that we go faster. My name is Ryan Mckone and I had signed up for the most dangerous thing in my life. I had joined the USMC (United States Marine Core) about two weeks ago. I didnt do it for anything that anybody would usually do it for. Money, power, no....I wanted none of that. I was doing this for my family.
I had just had a new kid who we were going to name Joshua. And then I had abandoned them. Just like that. I pushed all of that out of my head. I didnt want to think about that dreadful day again.
I was on my way to meet my new squad. To tell the truth, I was actually kind of nervous. I didnt want to embarrass myself in front of my own squad. The driver then told me that it would be almost half an hour until we would reach our destination. I slumped back. The metal of the APC (Armored Personnal Carrier) wasn't very comfortable. But it felt good to let the rushing wind pound against my face. The smell of the pine trees surrounding us made it even more peaceful. I tried to doze off. But the road was full of bumps and we kept constantly running into them. So I had to stay awake.
A few minutes later, surprisingly fast, the APC stopped. I looked over to my right and sure enough there was my squad. I jumped out of the passenger seat and turned around and thanked the driver for the drive. He saluted me and drove away. I turned around and walked over to my squad.
"Tsk, 'bout time you showed up." A tall, muscular black man said. " Uh,sorry sir but-" He then interrupted me."Can it private, I don't want none of your excuses". "Well anyways, lets get you introduced."
"My name is Seargent Brian." the black man said. " And over there.." He pointed to a freckled face man twirling a knife,"That's Corporal Sam. And over there.." He pointed to a ginger who was staring at the sky," That's Private Robert or Rob for short. Alright! Hey! Rob, Sam! Let's get moving!" They stopped what they were doing and came over here. " Let's hit the training grounds!" Brian said.
I had a feeling we were going towards a barracks, seeing as nobody had a gun. Brian put his hand on a door knob and opened the door. I was amazed. There were guns by the dozen. I picked up the usual. An M16A5, MP5, 2 fragmentation grenades, 2 stun grenades, and a knife. While picking up the guns I overheard my squad saying how I wouldn't last a week. That's some great influence.
Before opening the door to the training grounds Brian said " Just to let you all know, We're not using real bullets and they're not using real bullets. But if you get hit by them, you'll know it." And with that he opened the door and we walked outside.
The training grounds was filled with barricades and walls and mounted machine guns. I knew there would only be more. A gunshot hit me in the foot. I grimaced and limped for cover. My teammates joined me in cover. The pain in my foot still hurt but I ignored it. I had never fired a real gun before. I put my head around the wall and fired. It missed the enemy by 5 inches. That was sloppy. I tried again and this time I got him in the stomach and he fell down. Lucky Shot I told myself. Rob got the other guy. " Move up" Brian said. The rest of the training ground was pretty easy. Although I could have done better shooting. We got to crawling. It was pretty much you crawling under a barb wire trying not to hit it. It was fairly easy. When I stood up from my crawl I felt a shock of pain in my stomach. I looked down and blood trickled down my suit.
I had got stabbed in the stomach and my adrenaline pumped in. I pulled the knife out of my stomach and pulled out my own knife. I punched the enemy in the stomach then in the face. He fell to the ground. I put a knife up to his neck and attempted to slit his throat but Brian held my arm back." Woah, easy goes there, we're not trying to kill him. Anyways good job out there Ryan. Maybe I shouldnt have doubted you, we all shouldn't have. Ooh. Looks like you got stabbed pretty good there. Don't worry we'll get you stitched up. As for now you're done. Be ready to leave at 0900. Dismissed." He said. I walked over to my tent and fell asleep on my cot as soon as I got on it.
