im sure a million people have asked...
ive tried starting a dedicated server using halo console.
where can i get step by step instrc's?

I swear im doing what the readme.txt said but i cant see my server when i start halo multiplayer.
am i overlooking something somewhere? im confident my "init.txt" file is correct.
can i find the info to keep someone from repeating themselves?
thanks

You can find all you need to know over at the Gearbox site. For the server to show, there must be the line sv_public 1. If there isn't that line or it is set to 0, it won't show up.

thnx. my "public" line said "true" so i changed it to "1".
I can now see my server BUT its changing the name to "Halo" and it wont let me join. do i join thru some back door instead of the multiplayer route?
Dont worry i will still go to the link you gave and try to figure it out.

thanks again

You may have put a space in your name line, in which case it would revert back to Halo. To join your own ded server you must change the ports in the network settings. Make them 2 higher than default.

Doesn't IBEx work for Halo PC?

Yes, you should go to halomaps.org and get the program IBEx. It's a great GUI app that lets you easily create the text file, plus you can use it for PC and CE.
