Subject: bungie should re-release halo ce

If they just made a fair sized update to it where you could play XBL, then that would be fun.

I would be willing to drop $15 for more multiplayer map packs and a playable character sets based on Halo CE and Halo 2.

It would be cool too if you could play as Covenant and Flood characters in non-campaign, non-Firefight multiplayer modes.

It wouldn't be a fair sized update. It would be a huge update. Halo 1 was made before Xbox Live was available. So they'd pretty much have to rewrite the entire game code to make it support everything on the 360. They would essentially be making another port of Halo 1 like they did with Halo PC.

Last time I saw this was like 1 and a half months, I just can't believe it's still alive. It was probably more than that. Admit that Halo 1 is gone. Halo 2 is just about aswell. They are both great games, but admit that Halo CE is gone.

Well Halo 2 isn't gone just yet. As long as it still has Xbox Live available for it, it will live on.

I was just thinking about this the other day. (Forgive me if someone else has mentioned it) I think it would be sweet if it was included with Reach just like ODST was a 2-disc setup. That way after you complete Reach you can jump back into Halo CE to continue the story.

It would be excellent to see the Halo 1 and 2 campaigns rebuilt on the Halo 3 engine. Between Halo 3 and ODST there's a lot of the necessary assets already knocking around. You could possibly get in another developer, Gearbox for instance, to actually put most of it together.

Whether or not they will is another matter.

I think that they should rerelease Halo CE, and Halo 2, similiar to how on the Chronicles of Riddick, Assault on Dark Athena, they had an updated version of the old Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay. Maybe Bungie could do something similar to this with the Halo's. I would love to revisit the old Halo, without having to ignore the outdated graphics.

Well Gearbox only does PC Ports. Rebuilding a game using a newer game engine is way different than doing a PC port. Plus, getting another developer to do it is impossible. The Halo Engine is proprietary. That's why you don't see any mods using the Halo Engine with the exception of the game Stubbs The Zombie.

Not really, the networking code is alrady there in system link, which scans a local network for games. Therefore, In theory, you should be able to easily change the coding to look for games on a wide area network(A.K.A. the Internet). For graphical changes, update the resolution. Also, Halo Pc was a port made by Gearbox and Microsoft with very little help bu Bungie, as was H2V.

And yet, without Bungie's full assistance, the PC versions didn't do as good as the Xbox versions despite the improvements on the PC. I think if Bungie and only Bungie worked on the PC ports, the result would be perfect and probably a lot better than the Xbox version. But Bungie is always busy with some secret project they're working on which turned out to be Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. And now they're working on a newer project which is non-halo related.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

2 things:
1. The Pc version didnt do as good as the xbox version, as at the time, people were into CS, TFC, Unreal, and other multiplayer fpsses. Halo PC was popular, but then Halo 2 came out.
2. You dont get what "protepry" means, it means Closed Sorce basically. They can give the source code to the devoloper, or like with other protepry game enignes, liscense it.

It's actually spelled "Proprietary" and it's the reason why you're never going to see mods of Halo like how CS is a mod of Half-Life.

Uhhhh, i think you need to know what that word means:
it means the engine is CLOSED SOURCE basically. The owner of the source has full control over it.
Now, there could be a mod like that, but it would take a while, and may require stuff like Hex Editing or modifing files, but if it is on PC, it can be modded, even with hex editors.

The original Halo Engine is almost almost 9 years old and so far there aren't any mods of it yet except for the game Stubbs The Zombie. But that game was made using a licensed version of the Halo Engine so it doesn't really count.

Nothing in Halo 3 is a remake. The game engine and mechanics are too different to allow true remakes.

i think your thinking of a 'copy' not a re-make, re-make as in making the same game with differences so it would use different mechanics and engine, if it was the same game with same engine and same mechanics, thats a copy.

No, I'm thinking remake. "Remake", in my view, is a map that holds true to the flow of gameplay in the original, and maintains the same basic map features.
