My sources have recently brought me interesting news about two particular Halo 2 online maps. Within the following, there are rumors and, dare I say it,facts.

The first map, dubbed nameless,is a large island somewhat similar to that of Silent Cartographer. There are a few differences, however. The first is the fact that it is at least five or six times larger than Silent Cartographer. The second is that on each end of the island are two large bases. The third is that between the two bases are grassy fields, rivers, and quite possibly, bunkers or outposts. There are also several bridges or tunnels above and below ground. The largest is a interconnected group of tunnels in the center of the island and they appear to be underwater. Also the size of the map suggests that there are either dropships,(This has not been confirmed or denied but the idea has been suggested aggressively)Banshees, and possibly other aircraft. I have ascertained and established the fact that a strong vehicular presence is confirmed.

The second map is very similar to Blood Gulch and could be either a variant or replacement.
The map is a large, oddly shaped canyon but is definitely not a box canyon. The map has a large desert theme and the following describes it.

The map of the canyon is slightly larger than Blood Gulch and has four bases or outposts within the map. In the center is a large structure that could be a main base or outpost of some kind. There are numerous "jump" points in the map that are areas that appear to be vehicle ramps of some sort.

The info you have just read contains fact, rumor, and speculation. I cannot say which is which at this time, but if you are interested I will post more articles like this on a monthly basis.

The second one definitely sounds false. Waterworks has been advertised as the replacement for Blood Gulch by Bungie staff. Nearly twice as long and twice as wide with a neutral structure in the middle.

That sounds much cooler.

If the map really is 5 to 6 times larger than Silent Cartographer it would have to mean more than 16 players or walking alone for miles would get tedious.....and the battles would be few and far between

Well first off if you play the PC version the first map you describe is on the PC version it is a vast map very huge. If you play the PC version most of the new maps and features they put on there are 100% most likely going to be in Halo 2

the second one you described was not waterworks, it is burial grounds.

read the description...jump points. desert theme. oh, and 4 bases, with a cetral one in the middle. we have an overhead layout of the map too, i concept art i think.

the first one sounds too big. i like the ability to go foot or vehicle, and if the map is 4 times the size of death island[a map where going on foot was suicide] then there is no way in hell you can go on foot... unless its teh assault style ctf we saw inE304.

i hated death island as a map...but if you are not BSing us, which is unlikely, then i believe bungie will make a good map... they always do.

this second map sounds like burial mounds which if you remember frankie said it is a desert themed map. and if you look at the early concept sketches for burial mounds it contains many vehicle ramps that enable the vehicles to get past trenches. ncie.

well, they did say the maps in halo 2 would be a lot bigger than the ones in halo, every last one. to be specific they said around 2 or 3 times the size of AOTCL.
