Ok Basically this is the run through. it starts off with a type on black that says something to the effect of , "they are the most feared force in the universe" and then flashes to game footage that we have seen. it keeps flashing back in forth between type and stuff we have seen before for about 20 sec. the type, sorry i cant remember completely basically just says things to the effect of , you are the only one who can stop them, they want our planet, etc. the footage is gameplay footage and cinematics from the 2003 e3 demo. NOTHING NEW> however at the very end is really the part worth noting. There is a BEAUTIFUL CG sequence of masterchief in earth city and covenant phantoms buzzing over head. Looks exactly like the poster only even more beautiful. final fantasy style. I wish the entire trailer was cg like the ending . then after the cg sequence is over. the halo 2 music and logo come up. very nice. but the gameplay footage didnt look very good real big like that. resolution issues. Overall i think they should have made it a little more cinematic and big, and there is definitely room for improvement in their movie ads. but worth seeing just for the 7 sec cg shot. wow
It simply boggles my mind why, with all the game engine improvements Bungie has implimented since E3 2003, they would use that footage in the first trailer released to the general public (as in not through the internet or trade shows). Why on earth would Bungie not seek to make the best first impression and use new footage, even if it's areas we've seen before?
Halo 2's marketing has me really worried. First that horrible print ad (similar to Sega's "Two words: Shenmue. Dreamcast" three-page ad with no screens or information), now a theatrical trailer put into limited release and featuring footage over one year old? Ug. Bungie, I love you guys but the marketing so far has blown. (Not a fan of the cover art while I'm at it.)
