Any vehicle that an Elite can use, you can. It can also be boarded.

The only things in Halo2 that you will not be able to drive (fly) are the Dropships and even up until lately Bungie was trying to enable that. Frankie, about a month or more ago had to confirm that we could not drive the Pelican.

The Covenant Shadow you say was from the early 2000 versions of Halo when it was still on the Mac. Once Bungie signed with Microsoft and closed the Xbox deal they probably didn't have enough time to polish up and transfer everything from the Mac version to the Xbox in time. And think about it people. Where would the Shadow fit into the Xbox version well (other than multiplayer)?

The Phantom is the Covie version of the Pelican...

The Shadow is the Covie version of the Warthog...

The Phantom is definitely going to be in the game and probably won't be drivable, as the Pelican definitely won't be drivable

However, it is not known whether or not the Shadow will make it into the game. Bungie has neither confirmed nor denied the inclusion of this vehicle. If it is in the game, it will most likely be drivable, as the Warthog is. I, personally, hope it is included.

Hey since were already off the topic a little, I'm guessing that since there are no dropships than there will be no skyhawk. Is that true?

I don't want a Skyhawk. That thing was ridiculous. Four chain guns!? Who the heck builds such a thing? What a waste of mass and it would run out of ammunition in a few seconds.

A single phalanx gun would be much more advisable.

  • 07.16.2004 12:13 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

and how do you know about a jet in 2552? this is 500 years in THE FUTURE!! it would blow the hell out of any jet we have, and blow the -blam!- out of any small Covie airship,so i say its good.

Well yeah I agree but it has two scorpian rockets on it and the chainguns wouldnt run out of ammo, they would be like the warthog guns. But it would run out of rockets. It would probably be more of a scout vehicle anyway.

I like halo's realism though and the Skyhawk is the least realistic thing I've ever heard of. Almost all fighter aircraft have but one forward mounted weapon for a single reason. Even then a fighter can only fire for about six to ten seconds. Four chain guns would be ludicrous, at least not without Covenant anti-gravitic technology to back it up.

Worse, it would be completely unbalancing. Four chain guns would annihilate a banshee within a second, an infantryman even faster. As soon as you get your hands on one of them in Multiplayer it's game over for everyone else on the map.

Thats what the rocket launcher target tracking is for. Also you like the realism but c'mon the warthog gun has infinate ammunition thats not realistic.

Yes, but the Warthog doesn't have FOUR chainguns, that's what I find unrealistic, not that it might have infinite ammunition. Can you name a single jet fighter that has more then one front mounted cannon?

And balance wise, I really can't believe any Spartan with a rocket launcher is going to survive long enough to sink four to eight rockets into that flying behemoth, tracking or not.

It only needs one rocket to be destroyed bungie wouldnt make it that unbalenced. If you've seen any movies with jets or any documenteries on jets you know that one well placed rocket and its going down, it might not blow up when the rocket hits but it will do an instant nose dive or it will spin out of control, but if it hits the fuel tank it will disintegrate instantly.

But I do agree four chainguns is a bit much. But if a banshee hits it in the fuel tank it will blow up.

Well, one rocket would normally take out a jeep but a Warthog can take four. Vehicles are tougher in the Halo universe.

So what you're trying to use as your argument is that they're going to make the Skyhawk out of eggshells?

Well, you must think, that a warthog can run without an engine hood, or windshield, yet a plane can't fly without wings.

Edit: And if you hit it with a rocket in the wing, it is only a guess, but it makes sense that the wing would blow off or at least be pretty screwed up.

NO, but if you hit the banshee with a rocket it blows up. All you need to do is hit the -blam!-pit of the skyhawk and its down you can take down a banshee or a skyhawk with one shot from a sniper rifle just take out the pilot same with a warthog just three shots and its down too. Just take out the crew and its disabled. Heck if you have enough time you can riddle the cockpit with bullets and the pilot will die.

The Skyhawk is a jumpjet, capable of hovering, it can perform without its wings though, I would think, loseing maneuverability and definitely it's ability to fly at mach speeds.

Which is another reason I don't like it. It can cross a multiplayer map in the blink of an eye.

I think i'll let someone else explain why crossing a map in the blink of an eye is not too much of a problem.

The Skyhawk is not a Banshee. It's a mach speed, armoured behemoth. It's more then twice the size, is better armed and armoured. It would have to be fairly strong structurally to hold 2500 lbs. of chain guns and then several thousand pounds of ammunition.

True but most of it is how good the engines are, and that is the weakness right there you get a rocket in the engine and its going down from the weight.
