My buddies had a great time lanning Halo PC last weekend. Ended up having 12 computers connected plus a dedicated server running on an old P3 800 MHz. 4 of the 12 computers were ordinary laptops. With the -use11 command, they all ran the game at about 60 fps. My wife's DELL Studio 15" handled it perfectly. The next time there's a LAN, I'll just pack up that laptop and a mouse and I'll be good to go.

Anyway, wrote a write-up to include video and pics here: http://hushedcasket.com/node/3977

Also, looks like no one holds the license for Mac Halo anymore so it can't be sold and I imagine it can't be supported.

And, if it weren't for posts on this forum, we'd had a hell of a time getting everyone up to 1.0.8. That version isn't advertised online. I guess sawnose has a good reason for that?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Awesome. That looks like so much fun. Not sure why the update isn't advertised, but Halo PC should auto-update to 1.08. Mine did, anyway.

It's just that the scrolling letters advertise 1.0.7. So, that could confuse a user.

Additionally, I got confused because I downloaded the wrong dedicated server version. Took me a minute to figure out that I needed 1.0.8.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

Thing is, the game is no longer supported, and so the messages haven't been updated. There used to be these EU and US Bungie servers back around '06 and I believe still '07; those are gone, too. Glad you guys got away with it, but yeah, Halo PC's abandoned. Sawnose was nice enough to provide us with a no-CD update (1.0.8.) but he just didn't advertise it.

Wasn't the no CD part just because they couldn't update the copy protection without extra hassle?

Either way, it's a shame they don't update their MotD text file.

Oh, and the LAN looked fun. Would love to play the game at a LAN, but that'll probably never happen.

MAW had a LAN party, but I couldn't go. Maybe you guys could have another one.

"That's quite a feat for such a small boy."
"I'm young not small."

Don't double post. Also, posting in every thread will not improve your chances of getting people in your server.

On a more related note, that looked fun as hell. I was sort of surprised some of you guys had trouble running Halo PC in certain computers, but then I went on to read and it said some of you were using regular laptops to play. I've had bad experience with sound cards, so I'll agree on that one.
