it's probably already been found but i think it is the coolest thing ever.....

when playing truth and reconciliation i was blasting and shooting my way through the ship when i saw a grunt. my instinct brought me to blast it only after unloading a clip of the AR i relilized he was frozen in the grenade throwing position. I could throw plasma nades on him and shoot him with needlers without them blowing up. I shot his gun with a clip of needles and so it looks like a purple light saber. i thought it was the coolest thing to find. the pics are below.

here are the links to the pics
grunt with sword

grunt frozen

flaming grunt

spear thrower

How do you freeze him in place? Does it just "happen" or is there a certain way to do it?

  • 05.12.2005 6:55 AM PDT

one word, 2 cylibles,

Photoshop

Once on the Silent Cartogropher, I ran to the area where the doors lock, and a grunt escaped. I threw a plasma grenade on it, and nothing happened. Then, after doing everything I needed to unlock the door, I went back, and the grunt was dead on the ground. Not necessarily a Photoshop image, it just can happen. If a grunt or other person travels too far out of their zone that they are programmed to stay at, then they'll be frozen outside of their boundary. Then after you pass a checkpoint, whatever was put on the grunt will go off.

Thank you Captain SpellRight!

That's a cool glitch, if it's real. Speaking of 'Silent Cartographer', I was playing before and went into the structure with the door that closes before you can get in. Anyway, the door closed, as usual, but I I was trying my hardest to open it and find a glitch. I seen the Gold Elite was standing behind the door, through the transparent panels. Well, I started unloading on him with my pistol and eventually killed the SOB. After I went into the Control Room and opened up the door, the cutscene showed him coming out of the door, alive and well. Ain't really a glitch, but it kinda pissed me off.

it's real, it has something to do with loading zones in the game. You can find a vid of this glitch but on Control Room.

here's the link

All you need to do is travel into another loading zone, but the guys that you left behind will be frozen because they exist in another loading zone. So, if you trap them in another loading zone, they'll be frozen.

Who would take the time? Many people would take the time. There's alot of bored people in this world, and alot of them are in this forum. I mean, come on, we ARE kinda wastingour lives talking about a game. Although, it is the greatest game ever made.

UI'm guessing this is proboblt halo ce and he used a dev trainer to freeze time. But you can still move and all human weapons can still shoot. And he made those effect with the needlers by shooting them in the right places or edited on...
And isn't it perciliar that the retical was blue? not red?

No, you don't need a trainer, mod, or cheats of any kind to freeze an AI char. in Halo. Whenever you travel across a checkpoint while they're on screen, it will happen. I've only ever done it on Xbox Halo, but I'm sure it works on the others, too.

The best, and easiest place to make this happen is in Assault on the Control Room. After clearing the huge room w/ the two bridges, get back in the tank or other fast vehicle, making sure that some marines are left on the ground and have to walk. Now, drive to the next checkpoint (place w/ the sleeping grunt and two ghosts.) Then, quickly turn around and as you near the bridge room again, you should see your marines running out of it. When you cross the checkpoint on the ground, they will freeze.

As i posted on my "halo 1 glitches" forum, i have had this happen multiple times on various levels. With elites aswell. Grenades and needler shots hit them, but do not detonate.

A few things...

Firstoff, this looks familiar because it IS the SAME thread. Check out the post date. It reads May. Somebody just decided to dig this post up and bump it.

=====><=====

Theres a checkpoint in every level, once you cross a certain point in the game, Halo will automatically load the next bit of the level and save your progress. Sometimes, however, computer-controlled characters will freeze after you cross the point. It pretty much becomes part of the background. It wont harm you, and you cant harm it.

Once you cross another checkpoint, however, anything you do to it will happen at once. Example: If you stuck a ton of grenades on it, once you cross the other checkpoint, itll bounce around for a while.

Ive seen this happen before with a marine who tagged along (on AotCR) and fell behind a bit too much.

For more comprehensive info, this link here at HBO should help.

=====>EDIT<=====

Satanic Teddy already posted the exact same link. Oh, and those of you who were fooled by Teddy's clever sig, dont click mine.

That "Wierdest Person Ever" link doesn't load anything. Its a blank page.
Don't waste your time.
And by the way, Silent Dawn told me about this Frozen Grunt thing some time ago.
This may be a repeat.

yes this glitch is real...and another bit is : if you pump a bunch of ammo into them like Rockets and grenades and needlers then cross the loading point again, all the damage from all ur shots will go off all at once and send the marine sky-high...its funny....and making needles come out of the crotch on the marines.....soo childish
