I have Halo 1 for PC, running vista.

Every time i attempt to go from one map to another (whether it be campaign or multiiplayer), the game freezes.

After research, some people have said that its problems with the graphics files, but i have no idea.

Before people ask, yes... i have re-installed several times. I have attempted to install on a slower computer, running XP, and it works fine (But sadly, its not my computer, so i cant play on there).
I have it set to run as administrator. I have attempted running it in compatibility mode for XP. I have tested with the resolution at EVERY setting. When playing, i cut down to minimul programs running (only windows programs, and halo...i've even tested without my security system just to make sure that wasn't it).
I have updated my drivers for graphics and audio.

And yes... i have even done the fix-all action of restarting my comptuer :P

Any ideas you may have, even if you dont have the full idea, let me know, so i can possibly expand on your idea with my own experience and knowledge and try to fix this.

Thanks

I stopped at Vista because Halo PC doesn't support Vista...

The thing is... it worked for about a week. Then it suddenly started crashing when it loaded new maps.

The Reason why it's crashing is because of the .map files. It isn't your computer's fault.Unless it is a Windows Vista Home Premium(One of the earlier versions of the PC)Some maps contain glitches that tends to crash your Computer. That's a hypothesis of fact but it's not educational. However,I'm not discouraging the use of custom maps of CE.Just be careful which map you download it might contain the certain glitch.

It means shut the -blam!- up. Try using vulgar words. If you have any in that extensive vocabulary of yours.

You have no authority. And go ahead. When Mummy let's you back on again, you more then likely will reply in another ill-conceived and useless "verbal offensive".

lol... i've tried reinstalling it. I've tried installing it in the user folder, i've even done the desktop... i've run it as admin, run as compatible XP, made the maps folders non-read-only. Every single technical possibility.

Well, i guess thats just one more thing that vista will deprive me of :(

That's weird my copy of PC works fine, could it be a driver problem?

What, is that your 'eject' button when things get too hot? Every single time you get involved in an argument and it goes against your favor, you post something similar, and 5 posts later your back. All it shows is that your incapable of forming an answer, and so you -blam!- out.

Static had every right to label your post as garbage, because that's exactly what it is.

to the driver problem, i dont know if it could be or not... i've got the most up to date drivers.
And normally, if you try to load it on a computer where it forsee's a problem (such as graphics not compatible, or below specs) it alerts you. It has never done that to me

Halo 1 and Halo CE work perfectly for Windows Vista Home Premium. (For me at least.) I don't know what the problem would exactly be, but I suggest re-installing.

Rob vokes -> i have already tried that several times...i've done every logical troubleshooting action, including the re-installation of my OS (wiped the computer). It worked for about 2 days after that.

I would love to tell you what the problem is but this has been going on for as long as halo pc has been out. My best guess would be some kind of issue with drivers or other software. It has NOTHING to do with vista as it's been happening long before vista was even out.
