Okay, I've decided to start a thread in which we all come in and list what we think is required reading for 7rue Bungie fans.
Firstly, read everything, and i mean everything, found on b.net. Esp. the "inside bungie" tab. It will give you a history (somewhat glossed over though) of all their games. Highlights include the (near historic) "Letters from the Webmaster." I first suggest you read other sections before LftW and the Scrapbook(see below), as context is necessary for full enjoyment/comphrension.
Marathon Scrapbook. IMO, this will give you the best candid glimsp into the history of early Bungie. Tidbits include why Bungie says "Coming Soon(tm)" (and thus why we were shocked when they announced Nov. 9), origins of "Frog Blast the Vent Core!" and more! Alternate location of scrapbook, complete with footnotes.
Hamish Sinclair's Marathon Story Page. Though a strong focus on the story and intricacies of the Marathon story, it also covers other bungie things such as "The Number 7", "Box Acronyms", Pathways into Darkness nuances, BLAM!, and the Bungie Webmaster himself! And you have played marathon by now, right?
Optional.Pathway's into Darkness Story page. If you can run OS Classic, get the Mac Sack, and play this game. (and you thought marathon was hard?) At least get a feel for it, and then go read the story pages. Because not everyone can play this game, i'll label this optional, but pleasant reading. Its an amazing story written by Jason Jones. Consider yourself a well versed bungie fan if you go here. Marathon and PiD connections abound! (much more so than marathon/halo).
Halo.bungie.org. I shouldn't have to give it much introduction, b/c I'm sure everyone has this one bookmarked already. right? Right? Go here for your modern news on halo and bungie. (search for Matt Soell's "Weekly Updates" for some great historical perspective, as well as look at the old Halo screens to see how far its come along). Required Watching: Bungie's "Evolution" video. This can be found on HBO.
I can't really come up with required reading for Myth (or Oni), so i'm just gonna say "buy myth for $10 if you haven't already," get on marius.net or playmyth.net and stop reading the forums. Its like no other strategy game. but i'm getting off topic now . . .
Anyone have anything to add?
