Still reading the main post, at the part where you say the Forerunners were Precursors sent to Milky-Way.

Not sure if it's been said... not gonna go through all 26 pages (at least, not right now, haha)

Here's the dictionary.com for Forerunner.

1. predecessor; ancestor; forebear; precursor.

(Also, that's very similar to the Alterans/Lanteans/Ori from Stargate)

Oh, and freakin' amazing post by the way. I've got goosebumps and I'm not done reading yet.

Yes, there's a dedicated thread to that particular line of discussion that I also made. Not sure if you clicked on the link in the OP, but it's got some interesting supportive information in it. Bit more wordy though, I think.

This is probably the best theory ever divised, I am absolutly loving this.

Imagine this is exactly how it all happened!

@OP
I really like this. Very well written and some very interesting theories.
I have but one question.
If the Flood are extra galactic, and the theories from your post are correlated, then is it possible that the Precursors themselves are extra galactic?

That's pretty much the entire point (and basis) of the theory. I'm theorizing that, since the Flood are extra-galactic, another extra-galactic force must have created them. With the only other extra-galactic species being the Precursor, they were the obvious choice.

So does that mean the Precursors still exist? Or did they flee their own galaxy to the Milky Way for refuge from the Flood but were wiped out by the Halo effect?

There are only theories, but this theory expresses my opinion on the matter. It has much more solid backing than this theory itself does, and, when tied in to this theory, seems to make very good sense. Just my guess, though.

i have a 2 questins i have been absesed with the halo world for many years and having bought the new halo encyclopedia book i saw that in the story line the flood arived in the milky way galixy after the forrunors had already exicted for a long time... this leads me to belive that both of the anciant races of the precursors and the forrunors could have exicted at the same time. the flood must have taken the tech from the precursors and traveled to the milky way for more food the 2 races may have excisted at the same time

It's possible that they existed at the same time in different parts of the universe. In fact, at least for a short period of time, I believe that they did myself. But there is no real hard evidence one way or the other.

i see well i also was thinking that the technoligy from the precursors could have been what lead to the down fall of the forrunors

If you consider the Flood to be technology, that's pretty much the basis of this entire theory.

In that the Forerunner are Precursor, how does that align with logic?

Wall to much. Sorry but I will not read it all but what I read was interesting

If you're not going to read all of it, you shouldn't have read it at all. Or, for that matter, started spamming about walls of text. I warned you about the size of the thread in the beginning, maybe I should make the warning more clear?

Lord Snakie? Is that really you? Can it really be?

I haven't seen you since forever, dude! I find your ability to write and your ability to reason as impressive as your ability to disappear, old friend!

I'm just surprised Aardvark does. She practically never leaves a private fan fiction group, FF.net or Deviant Art to post in the public forums.

Perhaps it might be because Lord Snakie, however, does leave the public forums, to venture into the domain of say, The Mirratord?

I am very intrigued by all your theories, they make sense, and even the parts that don't, seem to fit, and can be explained away. I think I'll use this thread to voice my opinions on both of the theories I've found written by you.

When reading the "Three Children of the Precursors" Theory, I was reminded of the last episode of Battlestar Galactica, and previous sections of the entire re-imagining, when the characters there, after escaping from the destruction wrought by their children (similarities abound between flood and cylons) decided to forgo all their technology and start from scratch, even if it the possibility remained that it would lead to the same path.

The "Acceleration of Evolution" Theory, seems to me to be less solid and more of a possibility than a probability, I believe you strayed a bit to far on some of your avenues of exploration, such as the purpose of the flood in precursor society, though the image of the Flood being a corpse disposal system was amusing. I say that you strayed too far down some of the avenues because you brought up points that could bring down part of your theory and therefore bring doubt upon your theory as a whole. My most specific question would be... How did the precursor access the memories stored within the gravemind? And wouldn't it be easy enough to insert a virus that could destroy the mind from one of the (presumably many) access points?

But yes, as with the other discrepancies I saw, that could be explained away, (so don't bother doing it).

Intriguing.

Augh, Tasha, you know my OCD when people question my theories. NOW I'VE GOT TO RESPOND WITH SOMETHING!

All I'll say is that I took a creative approach to try to explain possible ways that things could happen, precisely because of the open-ended nature of the story. I admit it might be completely false, but I was (and am) trying to paint a skeleton rather than the Mona Lisa. The extensive details I use mainly focus on what could be rather than what is, to keep the attention of the reader whilst also exploring possibilities and encouraging discussion.
