“To say more would spoil be it’s overall its a game that needs to be played.” - Aristotle

What you're saying is probably the most likely of the theories out there... the Precursor made or became the Flood, some of them at least freaked out and informed everybody that doom was about to descend, and the Flood went to the Milky Way and made everybody miserable.

Sounds pretty straightforward. As a conceptual theorist, straightforward things bore me.

Actually, I believe it's more complex than that.
Care to elaborate?

Its hard to say anything about the Precursors because with the information we have on them, anyhting is possible

It's hard, yes, but not impossible. If you match facts with the past and the correlations you make to facts with the future, both ends can support the "gray area" that you fill in with your own ideas. That's mainly how this theory works; take everything we know and make sure it works with an overall new theory.

I'm compiling some stuff right now, hopefully I'll be done soon.

I'll let Snakie be the one who tells you how far my Halo related knowledge goes however.
I'd like to think I have an encyclopedic knowledge of Halo, although I'm not proud of it.

I think we'd all like to think that we have that level of knowledge over the Haloverse. Who knows how much we really have?

Yeah, I mean there a number of theories that I think we've accepted as fact by now but who knows if they're really facts or just assumptions. It's always interesting when someone has some small tidbit that you don't.

To a human, yes. Keep in mind that the Forerunner had combat armor that was at least 4 times as powerful as the Mark V that the Chief was using at the time, and especially Sentinel guardians. If the Forerunner had that place fully manned, the Flood outbreak wouldn't have stood a chance.

Oh my what a great read. I had almost like an epiphany, an entire new view of the halo fiction. While i doubt that's the way bungie conceived and fleshed out their plan for the forerunner story, you've definitely sparked some new thinking. Hopefully we'll have a little more info in the new Halo novel by that science fiction guy who no one has heard of. I must buy those books now.

Getting people to think in new ways and sparking new discussion is my favorite part of being a theorist. I'm glad the magic worked with you.

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

ok i like the entire theroy, I just think the part about the memory retrival thing is complete BS. If the precursors where that advance then they could simply have just build a scaner thing to upload the information from a persons dead brain cells. Sounds alittle easier. What about this theroy. The precursors with all there smarts where probably experamenting with evolving themselves. They tested it on a few precursors who become parisitic and what not... and.... BOOM, they attack everyone and everything in sight trying to convert every one to flood because the experament went horribly wrong and whatnot. That would also explain the gravemind (in the halo 3 terminals) telling the super forerunner AI that it was like the next level of evolution. The majority of the precursors where destroyed, the survivors of this attack where scattered over the universe. The ones in the milky way became forruners, who knows what happened to the rest. The flood practiclly runs out of fuel like a forest fire. It just consumed everything it could find and eventuallt burned itself out. Pieces of it which went into a kind of hibernation state where latter discovered by forerunner and... Boom whole mess all over again. You know the rest with the rings and arc.

also because of the war the forerunners pretty much salvage what they can from the precursors which is why they have lower tech. levels. Like the fall of rome. Much knowledge was long lost.

Brain cells decay incredibly quickly after death, which is why people normally are unable to sustain bodily function after nine minutes without oxygen. Unless they were able to scan everything within 9 minutes- and even then not everything would be complete- it would be relatively impossible. The Flood, however, can re-animate a corpse and decode all the knowledge from the dead cells.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

One of the more sensible, plausible, well thought out theories in any universe I've read. Unfortunately, I feel it is unlikely we will ever know for sure if you are correct

The upcoming Forerunner trilogy will certainly provide us with more information on that particular time period. It's possible we might find evidence of the Forerunner that reinforce this theory, or even find out more about the Precursor.

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
