Hi guys,

I have gone through the game on Normal and am now inside the T&R on Heroic. I've cleared the grav lift room of all those dreaded invisible elites, and have wandered around, following directions, until arriving at the Hangar bay the first time. This is the room where a dropship is leaving as you enter, you get reinforced by a Pelican load of marines, you have to eventually face two Hunters after clearing the bay of scads of other Covenant, and also where you pick up the overshield.

Being a legend in my own mind, I know I can get through this level. But after restarting about 15 times and not even getting to the part where the Hunters appear, I figured I'd read a walkthrough for some advice. There are 3 walkthroughs I found for Normal, and 1 for Legendary. One of the Normal walkthroughs also mentions Heroic.

Now, the confusing part: The walkthrough for Legendary talks about making sure the sniper rifle has lots of ammo before taking the grav lift to get into the T&R; and gives detailed instructions for its use in the T&R. And the walkthrough that mentions Heroic seems to also imply that there is sniper rifle use. **BUT** I distinctly remember that on Normal my sniper rifle got stripped out of my hands on the ascent in the Grav lift, and I started in T&R with a lousy Assault Rifle in my hands. So, this time I was very careful to ditch the sniper rifle and pick up a plasma rifle to back up my M6 pistol before getting on the grav lift. Now that I have made it to the hangar bay, I would REALLY like to have a sniper rifle, or even an M6 (don't remember why I ditched THAT).

Three questions:

1.) Does the sniper rifle get stripped out of your hands when riding up the grav lift on Halo (Xbox) Heroic? (Any tricks to make sure it doesn't?)

2.) If the answer to question 1 is, "No:" Is it worth it to restart the ENTIRE level over to make sure I have the sniper rifle for this room and subseqeunt encounters I will have on T&R? (I am current stuck in the passage that leads to the hangar bay, two half spent plasma pistols, a full needler, and 7 grenades. All other weaps in the passageway have dissappeared. On the other side of the door are a howling mob of Covenant, including an elite and 2 jackals up high, and lots of dead marines.)

3.) BONUS QUESTION: Can you pick up ammo for the sniper rifle to move back up to 64 rounds carried, if you do not let your total fall to 24 rounds or less? (I was going to find this out on the Heroic run, and didn't.)

Thanks!

To Answer Question 1: No it hasnt been stripped out of my hands before, but you may be able to prevent it by switching to you other weapon then going on the grav lift.

To Answer Question 2: You dont haved to but i would, but thats me!

To Answer Question 3: No i dont think its possible, but finding out doesnt hurt!

Hope thats some help to yas!

I honestly wouldn't know about the sniper rifle, I always ditch it as soon as I arrive in the T&R. I use my pistol for just about everything. Including the hunters. Did you know that if you sidestep the hunters when they charge you can kill them with a single shot from the pistol? Just make sure the shot hits them in the orange fleshy spot on their back.

there is no pistol in this level, the sniper rifle does not get stripped out of your hands, and no, u can not pick up ammo to push over 24, you only can pick up ammo with less than 24 extra rounds, why do u keep saying there is a pistol? there is no pistol on T&R, this goes for everyone

actually there is a pistol if ur lucky a marine rarely has a pistol and u can find it if ur lucky anywho i would start over because the sniper rifle is more important then any weapon in that level well thats my opinion and the grav lift soesnt take away the sniper rifle and one more thing never ever ever throw away a pistol that is all

First of all, I've never had a pistol on that level. All the marines carry AR's. I'm almost 100% sure. However, if you do manage to get one, keep it. The sniper rifle is your best friend, and always keep that one if you have enough ammo. I suggest restarting the level, as more practice never hurts. You are still on heroic, and you could use some practice (I'm not saying you're bad at all, you probably just started playing the game, or haven't played it much before). Anyway, it is also impossible to get your 64 ammo back. Also, remember that you don't pick up a sniper ammo pack, unless you need it and can get the max out of it. DON'T pick it up if you only get 2 shots out of it. Ammunition for the sniper is scarce, so pick up the refills carefully, and, go for headshots.

1. Never
2. If you use it a lot, do it.
3. No, no, and another no.

Thanks, Guys,

I know for a fact that the sniper rifle gets stripped in Normal: It even shows it lying there, as MC levitates up the grav lift in the cut scene! I was extremely disappointed. How nice to see that this does not happen in Heroic.

I took your advice, Rat Nukem, and started the level over. It was worth it: I was satisfied to still be accompanied by 2 live marines when I hit the large dished out area with the foot bridge, just before the area with the hunters. (On my first Heroic run to T&R, I lost all my marines at the very first room.) AND I got to carry my sniper rifle and a full load of ammo up the grav lift. Thanks!

I looked hard for an M6 (human pistol) when I re-did this level on Heroic: I have gotten back to the T&R's grav lift bay and still have not found one. I guess my recollection of having one was just my mind playing tricks on me. So, all you guys who corrected me on the pistol: I bow to your wisdom (or at least to your knowledge of Halo).

Thanks for the pistol advice, Bluehawk57. I made it through the game on Normal with total disdain for the M6; because I didn't realize until halfway through the game that you could zoom, and not until the game was almost over (on Normal) that its bullets were so powerful. but reading the walkthroughs and this forum has changed my mind. And being stuck at the hangar bay REALLY drove the point home: What I wouldn't have given for either an M6 or sniper rifle and 3 clips of ammo! No Covenant weapon would suffice to get me out of this jam!

Thanks for the ammo advice, Stickman Army. I knew this, but it is quite easy to forget.

Hmmm... I remember so little except that I was so-o-o into doing stupid stuff when I hit this on Normal (My total Halo experience was all of 5 hours or so). It is extremely likely that I did not reload the sniper before taking the lift; so maybe the game did me a "favor" and armed me with a fully loaded weapon? Maybe I'll get around to experimenting after I've done Heroic and Legendary.
