I know there have probably been many posts about this, but I see many people still talking about this. In the E3 demo, the grenade that stuns the grunts and jackal is thought by many to be a flash bang, here are some reason why I say it isn't.

1. The marine says "FRAG and clear." Frag is short for fragmentation.

2. When the grenade explodes, there is a large plume of fire. Flashbangs leave a small cloud of smoke after exploding, not a large fireball.

3. Flashbangs are non-lethal, to some extent anyway. If you watch, before the grenade is thrown there is no blood on the ground, after the explosion there are pools of glowing blood on the ground.

4. Many people say "why are they covering their eyes then?!", I think that if a fragmentation grenade exploded near me without killing me, I would be stunned. Don't you think that the combination of looking into the blast, hearing the boom of the detonation, and just feeling the pressure caused by the blast would cause a stun affect? Also, don't you think that shards of metal/dirt/dust could have been blinding them?

Tell me what you think....

I think bungie said somewhere that they put that in to show that enimies somewhat close to an explosion could be stunned. It might have been in the xbox magazie around the last E3 demo.In the first multiplayer screenshot the grenade on the ground is a different color.

In support of this clarification I'll say what I've stated previously. Frag Grenades are quite capable of stunning an opponent. Explosions have a chance of temporarily deafening the target and disrupting equilibrium by a sudden changes in air pressure. In that same manner that your ears pop when you are taking off in an airplane only much more intense. That's why in movies you sometimes see a man crouch low, cover his ears and open his mouth. This is a classical position that best protects against such an effects.

This, likely, wouldn't work on the Master Chief who in an environmental armour would be immune to rapid pressure changes but the Grunts and Jackals are quite fair game.

This topic has probably been posted alot, but I had some guy trying to convince me that it was a frag for like a half hour on a different post, and I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

I thought it was a flash bang because it didn't really look like any covanent died, but now that I read that article, It was probably a frag. But I think the marine yells "CLEAR IT OUT." but I can't really tell.

Frags with stun are great, but I want flashbangs too, especially if we can blind other people in multiplayer with them.

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

The MC visor darkens to light. Stun grenades will have no effect on a Spartan. They will neither blind nor defen them.

Im not sure but i think the marine actualy says "try and get clear.... cleared all out" or somthing and also if u whatch after the explosion/flash or whatever theres a grunt wandering in the darkened area where the blast happened

and yes i did look at the article however they may have either just not anounced flash\stun nades or not programed it so the frag wouldnt damage them so they could show the stun

just some thoughts
