I've watched the E3 trailer for ODST and read the info on the game and have led to this question.

Is ODST's multiplayer seperate or combined with Halo 3's multiplayer?
Meaning people who are on either disc go togather online or not.

The multiplayer's are the same, therefore people will be able to play multiplayer against each other on different discs.

ODST has no multiplayer, it only adds to the Halo 3 experience with new maps. Unless you are talking about Firefight which is the only multiplayer for ODST.

As far as I know, It's the exact same. I think you just load the maps you don't have onto your xbox with the ODST disk but you play multiplayer with the Halo 3 disk

Or it could be on both.

I think this is true, and for firefight you need ODST. Maybe they will have more codes that will give you the maps you don't have.

All the maps are probably on the disk. The only component of ODST which will not be playable with normal Halo 3 will be firefight.

I think if the maps are preloaded, then that would give more incentive to buy the game. Think about it, less wait times because the maps are already on the disc. Plus, it would free up some room on your hard drive, as you could delete your map pack and just use the ODST disc.
