Subject: Where the game fits in the timeline

It seems obvious to me that this game could fit into two timelines:

1) Prequel - Following the Halo: Fall of Reach novel.
2) Sequel (Halo 4) - Chief and Cortana roll up to a burnt out planet Reach in their half-ship.

It would seem from the trailer that it will be the former and not the latter (why would they build up the spartans staying where they are if they didn't want us to be psyched to play as them), however it is not assured that it is not the latter.

How cool would it be if you go to roll into the wrecked and ravaged Reach as Chief with Cortana and survey the blasted planet and see how those Spartans actually fared? Moreover, this latter option of a Sequel might allow us to fight some new enemies, instead of the old Elite, Grunt, Jackal, Hunter groupies. Perhaps the glassing of Reach has unveiled plenty of forerunner ruins to go and explore... and maybe some new races to do battle with. The planet that Chief rolls up to looks pretty Forerunner and very much like a dead planet. The Forerunners are fun and still a bit of a mystery. Why not explore some of that? That would be my hope. Probably not. And not that I will be disappointed. Hardly.
heh heh... hard.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

The game more than likely takes place just after the novel The Fall of Reach and before the events of the novel First Strike.
