I believe that is ' glassing'.the covenant ships would be too small to see from space, if you remember what they look like in the halo 3 cutscene
Wort Wort Wort??? Also, hilarious quote:Posted by: Vgnut117True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice..
I dont think it is glassing, wouldnt it look more like plasma? The blue ring-like things appear, but thats all. Those could be a side effect of something in the UNSC arsenal.
the explosions are obviously happening becuase someone lit a match at the armory in the grenade stockpile room, duh....
It looks to me like its the coevenant glassing the planet, wich is how reach falls in the novels. the arbiter mentions this in the bigining of halo 2 and they show a short clip of it. but ur right theres no ships on this one. coulda been for dramatic purposes tho. but we've never seen a planet actually being glassed in a game before so maybe theres a different method the covenant uses that we dont know about.

It is indeed the Covenant glassing the planet. This game takes place during the events of the book "Fall of Reach." If you want to get an idea of what the game MAY be like, I HIGHLY suggest you read it. It's an awesome story. In the book you follow several different Spartans. There are at least 30 Spartans involved in the Battle of Reach. I'm hoping we get to play some of them, and am betting/counting on it.Glassing is a term referring to just that. The Covenant glass a planet by shooting down super heated plasma that literally turns anything on the surface to a glass like substance.
