Subject: And now we know...

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

I don't understand the Sierra 259 part at the end. Who the hell is that? No Spartan we know of has that call sign? Any theories on that theory guys? lol.

Oh and I was one of the people who posted in the original thread discovering this forum. It's pretty much what I expected. A cryptic trailer with no real information.

Yeah I got to post in the nuked threads about this forum as well :).

But anywho, Sierra 259, huh?
Well we're aware of the 75 Spartans who were chosen, tough I believe their numbers go up to 150 because the original candidate pool was 150.
We also know of the Spartan III's. Now I believe their designations differed. Did they not have some letter in their designated identification number? If so then this would be these Spartans are certainly completely new.

And yes Nedus, you're right. I got a bit carried away :).
The games do need to stand on their own- this I agree with Bungie on.

Perhaps Italian. There were a few of them left. But I think their numbers were before the 150 though. They were given a designation number, but since they were included in the original crop... eh.

New thought based on what you brought up:

Who was Spartan 59? Could the 2 mean a replacement? Offspring (even with suppressed -blam!- drives I don't think they were all sterile)? Or even being repaired. Mmm.

Could be I really have no idea. I'm pretty sure my idea was way off though. I'm going to bust out The Fall of Reach book and read it over again. Maybe that will help with finding some of this stuff out.

The offspring is an interesting idea but I just don't think it would happen. I don't think they could of repaired the spartans that crippled. From what I got out of the book their bodies where pretty messed up.

True. Those Spartans, the ones semi- capable, were broken beyond repair. Some were given intelligence jobs and all. Strategic options and all that good stuff. Still, it's a thought.

I had no clue what Bungie was up aside from Halo 3: ODST, and I so I'm impressed. It looks like another game that is going to consume my time.

One Spartan retired you can see her in the Graphic novel testing out Mark VI armor. She said she left to start a family.

I don't believe in magic, but I DO believe in bones.

I go away from the forums for a week and look what happens, a new game sneaks up on me D=

Anyways, I'm really liking all of the theories flying around right now, all of them seem to be equally plausible.

There is one thing I'm particularly confused about, though. I know that the games don't exactly follow the books, and vice versa (aside from The Flood), but where exactly would this fit in Halo timeline?

From what I remember (haven't read The Fall of Reach in years), Reach got attacked and started to get glassed right before they shipped off MC to the first Halo game. During that time, some of the Spartan II's were sent back to reach to find Dr. Halsey (during Ghosts of Onyx, I believe). Now, all of those Spartans evacuated Reach, with MC in tow after the events of Halo: CE. I haven't read Cole Protocol, but I'm fairly sure the Spartans in that novel are nowhere near Reach while any of this is happening. So... where the hell did these Spartans come from?

Aside from all that gibberish, which I apologize for, the little picture accompanying the trailer shows a set of five silhouettes. One of them is smaller, and more slender than the others (second from the right), female, perchance? The figure isn't holding a weapon, that I can see at least, and it looks as if they may not even be wearing armor. So, that leaves four obviously armored and combat ready characters to (hopefully) continue the 4-player co-op campaigns.

And, with the varying sizes of the characters, this also leads me to believe the aforementioned theory of different classes in MP. TF2 Halo, anyone?

TL;DR: Just spewing my first initial thoughts on all of this, just found out about it just a few minutes ago, so I apologize =P

Hehe, that's because we know absolutely nothing :).

Anywho, different classes? I have to admit that I'm excited over that possibility.

Same here, will really put the onus onto teamwork and using your brain....to the guy who said about Blood Gulch....please stop lets not ruin another game with age old demands!!!

Nah, Blood Gulch could come back. That'd be sweet.

But I think this game will be more strategic than the others. I did not expect this. Shoot, I didn't know what to expect. I knew they'd announce Halo: Reach because I was one of the guys who actually saw the forum option before it was removed. But I didn't see all this coming :).

Nope, why rehash it again ? We would only get umpteen threads about "teh Bud Goolch wuz remade baadly, it sux"

But if this is a completely different style of game, I suppose neither of us can say that it would work out well or poorly. We don't know how the game will play- for all we know it's a game that requires more cover. Eh. We can only speculate.

Blood Gulch!!!!

There has got to be some location on the surface of Reach that precisely mimics Blood Gulch. I'm certain of it. Reach is a BIG place.

Yeah, no problem there, its nice to start with a new canvas...just hope its not tainted by some of the mistakes of H2 and H3 and that lessons are very much learned

Oh come on burrito, you know what I am on about, the abomination that was the rank chasing debacle, some of the lukewarm maps and the general move away from the Halo CE feel.

I just hope they look at the criticism levelled at them during the first 3 games and not retrace those paths.
