I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

It would make sense, considering how hulky the turrets are, and how sluggish they make the Spartans' movement.

Why so? They have the ability to wield a turret. They did it in Halo 3.

If you watch in all three campaigns, Marines and ODSTs have the ability to pick the Machine Gun Turrets up and transport them, but not fire them at the same time. (Or at least they never try.)

Since this is ODST, we may well be able to pick them up, but at a severe movement penalty - and if we can fire them at the same time, we probably won't be able to move while doing so.

I agree. We can't make assumptions about just from what we know from the trailer. I'm sure it will all make sense once we experience the gameplay.

The Turret is simply a feat of strength - dual-wielding, even more so with something like SMGs, PRs, Spikers etc. would take a level of strength, dexterity and flexiblity average humans like Marines and ODSTs can't manage.

  • 06.01.2009 4:42 PM PDT

For all we know its recoil can be like dual-wielding SMG's

  • 06.01.2009 4:43 PM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

So, an ODST can carry a F-in turret, but can't hold 2 magnums.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

You probably have to be standing still to use it like that.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

I must be missing something. Where is it shown or said that we can rip off turrets and fire them as an ODST? I saw the ground mounted gauss cannon, but that's it.

EDIT: I think I saw what your all talking about and it's the picture where it talks about the new co-op mode. Maybe exclusive to that new mode. It's possible, but if you can do it in campaign, then I would find that kind of strange.

If the spartans move slower when holding the turret.. Imagine An ODST holding one of them :S

  • 06.01.2009 4:46 PM PDT

lol?

Alright ot all those who keep saying they can hold a turret and not duel wield I am pretty sure they are there for stealth and need accuracy without the second hand no accuracy
this is a guess but It's logical

Or they could pick up one that is allready ripped off by a grenade or gunfire.

Oh, and I bet they'll go much slower when carrying a turret.

I am guessing only Dutch can pick up turrets as he is meant to be the heavy weapons muscle in the group.

He might be able to carry them - but not only is ODST tech a bit less advanced then SPARTAN tech (SPARTANS have a lot of stuff in their helmets and neural interfaces that Marines and ODSTs don't), much of which helps with aiming and compensating, ODSTs aren't as well-trained, or nor physically dominant as SPARTANS are - it would likely be that it would simply be too hard for an average ODST or Marine to aim with any sort of precision, thus defeating the purpose of holding two precision weapons.

The turret on the other, is simple by comparison.

1: Heft
2: Aim in general direction of enemy
3: Take solid foothold
4: Pull Trigger
5: Hum merrily while spraying in general area of enemy
6: Profit

Would it be that hard to believe? I mean, it'd be like someone wielding a minigun. Course accuracy wise I doubt they'll be able to use it effectively at the same maximum range as spartans, but I still think it's highly plausible that they can dismount turrets and use em. After all Johnson was seen back in Halo 2 able to heft up a turret on his own rather than in two man teams like with normal machine gun teams, so maybe it's lighter than we'd all think in the future

That's a very compelling idea. Or it could be just for Firefight.

On the topics of turrets, at 1:03 in the trailer, is that a stationary Gauss turret, or is it just a parked hog?

I'm assuming it's a Hog parked up. But its all guesswork right now.

I've pointed that out a few times. It seems to be a stationary gauss cannon and not a parked hog. It's different from a gauss cannon on a hog. It's bigger.
