Subject: Hear that noise? It's the sound of milking.

So lets see. Halo, perhaps the greatest FPS series ever, finally concluded with its third game after six years of careful work and development. Now that its over, Halo is going the way of almost every other good gaming franchise that has ever existed. With Halo Wars, ODST, and now Reach, that makes three undoubtedly mediocre (with Halo Wars already proven to be a complete wash) spinoff games in a span of under two years (Spring 09 to Fall 10).
I knew Microsoft would milk this franchise dry, but I had no idea how quickly they'd go about ruining it. Reach is dangerous territory, Microsoft. It is a huge piece of Halo lore that if (when) you **** it up, you're going to have to deal with the wrath of everyone who ever loved this game and universe.

This game will be an atrocity. I challenge Microsoft to prove me wrong. Believe me, I'd love nothing better if they did.

Halo Wars is a good game (not including campaign that blew) and if Reach is a First Person Shooter then i'm pretty sure it will be an awesome game.

Keeep Out of reach of children!!!

Chill out man. And you do know that MS game studios arent the only ones developing this game. It will be Bungie developing it for the most part

  • 06.01.2009 3:40 PM PDT

Life is interesting...

Bungie split from Microsoft.

Halo Wars was terrible, but Bungie had nothing to do with it.

I think there is a lot of potential in the Halo universe. Maybe Bungie is trying to explore other areas, without Master Chief.

  • 06.01.2009 3:41 PM PDT

And thats all your opinion. I'll consider this series milked when they (as in Bungie, not ensemble etc.) put out a bad game that has a bad plot line, and a bad game in general, and only care about money. I know Bungie is not that way, and doubt they ever will.

Halo Wars was done by another company, so you can't pin the milking of that to Bungie. ODST is an expansion, and that is NOT a new idea to gaming. Reach is a different approach to the HALO story, and is Bungie's next step for world DOMINATION!

Please get your facts straight. First off, Halo Wars has nothing to do with Bungie. ODST will be released a mere 3 days before the 2nd year anniversary of Halo 3. They most likely have been working on it since the release of Halo 3, and mainly just had a small team from the studio work on it. Halo Reach certainly won't be released under the two-year span of Halo 3, as it will be released in 2010. While a small part of Bungie's growing studio was working on ODST, the rest was working on Reach. Once it is released, it will have been about 3 years since the Halo 3, with almost the whole studio working on it. I wouldn't call that milking it.

Naw, I only hear the sound of AWESOME.
And your opinion about Halo Wars IS OPINION. I have a lot of friends who love playing Halo Wars. Come on dude, be excited like everyone else.

"We sleep peaceably in our beds, because rough men stand ready to visit violence upon those that wish to do us harm."

"Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of all those who threaten them."

Yes because I'm sure Bungie, the creators of Halo mythology will screw it up. /sarcasm. You can't call these games mediocre without having played them. I doubt ODST and Reach will be mediocre have some faith in Bungie.

  • 06.01.2009 3:46 PM PDT

Ohey guys :)

There are enought of these dang threads. Halo is not milked. Fans want more Halo, Bungie makes more Halo. If you don't wanna play the new games because you think Bungie is milking the series, be my guest. I'll be chuckling to myself as I strap on the ODST armor and when "Reach" comes out, when I'm strapping on whatever armor they give us. You can cry in a corner and be sad that Bungie is "milking" the series.

Long live Halo!

Some of you need to reread my post. I did not once mention Bungie. My entire rage is focused squarely on Microsoft, and considering they are now calling the shots with Halo, they are going to do whatever that can to sell more copies, not make a quality game.

And ODST is the most expensive "expansion" I've ever seen. It's a full Halo campaign. I call that a full game. A small game, but a full one.

I'd say this pretty much pwned the OP. No one's even played ODST, so how can you say it's mediocre? If there was something else that gave an impression of mediocrity and that that is definitely the way they're headed, then fine. But you haven't had the chance to even experience mediocrity with any of this "milking" going on. By the way, if you're going to complain about a 4th game from a series (with ODST not counting, considering it's an expansion), then go ahead and consider COD milked, GH milked, FF milked, isn't Resident Evil up to 5 or something?, and I'm sure there are many more. The amount doesn't play into milking, it's when a company puts a game out that's clearly just being put out to be sold.

No I don't want to join your group/clan/cult.

I like milk though...

No one cares for your complaining of Microsoft on a Bungie forum.

I'm just glad Nintendo didn't stop making Zelda games after the original. We would of never had OoT if they did. LOL.

OP, you are entitled to your opinion but you obv. no nothing about video game franchises. The people want more Halo, so there will be more Halo.

Halo wars wasn't made by Bungie so I don't believe that to be a valid part your "rant."

  • 06.01.2009 3:54 PM PDT

Halo without master chief and steven downes incredibly awesome morgan freeman ish voice seems very bland. But, Bungie will undoubtedly deliver a badass game with great Campaign and even better multiplayer. I just hope that Master Chief makes some interaction in the games.

Eat it

I know, right? Halo is so freaking milked. I mean, it has dozens of sequels and prequels of games in the same genre that span over 3 generations of consoles, a couple of portable games, some cell phone games, and even a freaking Ipod touch game. I mean, seriously, when will it end?

Oh, wait... I'm talking about Metal Gear.... My bad, guys....

  • 06.01.2009 3:56 PM PDT

Metal Gear lol..

  • 06.01.2009 3:57 PM PDT

go me

Halo: ODST is not an expansion, form what ive heard it's its own game with its own multiplayer and everything, its not like you just download it into Halo 3

They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be at peace
