it's entirely possible this event happens half way through the game - if so, sam might still be alive. It's a possibility, and we shouldn't hope too hard that it's going to be 100% loyal to the book.

It would appear to be a Spartan with an LMG with an ammo belt. Looks nothing like an Elite.
I do not know why everyone has snapped onto this "it's an elite" idea. Don't see many elites with a goddamn minigun...
I'm not sure either, seems to be an utterly bizarre notion.

Marine Corps.
Semper Fi.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Those are great educated guesses. Of course, they could be new characters we don't know yet. After all, they did that with Halo 3: ODST.

lols everyone knows bulletproof glass cannot withstand teacups thrown by russian women.

The one on the left is definitely an elite...look closely at his legs and you can see they bend like an Elites. Also, it has hunched shoulders much more than a human would have. Look closely at Elites in the Halo series, the silhouette matches up very closely.

I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS GAME AND THE BETA!

The 150 accepted Spartan's post makes sense. P.S. No elites. Look at the Spartan's right leg, it looks human. The characters have their backs to us. The other leg looks odd because it has a weapon mixing with it.

It pisses me off, they don't look like they're wearing Mark 5...

It was initially proposed by Fragula. A mod. That should answer that question.

You better close this sig when your done.

I think the tall one is an elite that turns into the arbiter

If the elite is working with Humans then he cannot be an Arbiter. Besides, the year the game takes place in the elites still hate our guts. Well... For at least about 25 more years.

Looks like Mk V to me..... Could be Mk IV though. Which would suit a squad shooter more, no shields........

Master Chief is probably not one of them.

I don't think he is. It sounds like once the planet is starting to get glassed. Master Chief is in space at that time. Only a few spartans were left, and were defending that one spot. The lab or something if I remember correctly...?

  • 06.01.2009 5:21 PM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

If this is during the invasion of Reach, all spartans would have Mark V armor.

Wouldn't it HAVE to be Mark 5 thought? Isn't that were they landed after jumping out of the ship? They were wearing Mark 5 at the time.

There you go, his name is Sam. I can not believe I forgot about them.

Anyway, my beats are that you are probably right.

I just want to point something out. in the Spartan-II Project, there were about 300 applicants. Out of those, only 150 can pass correct?
No, there were 150 candidates and Halsey had to narrow that down to 75 candidates. Only 33 survived the augmentations and were fit for duty.

Halopedia helps. ;)

I really think the one on the left is an Elite (most likely the Halo 3 arbiter). My reasoning is simply how he is posed. His legs are mounted firm with knees bent. I find it very unlikely that a spartan no matter how big would have posture like that. However, it's always a possibility.

What, that even mods need their eyes testing? :P

Again, mods need eyes testing.

Elites have two sets on 'knees', or two articulations in their legs, similar to how humans appear if they walk around on just the balls of their feet. The silhouette doesn't have that. It's also got the characteristic MJOLNIR helmet, not an Elite helmet.

So, basically, your observation skills need a bit of work. :\

Oh, wow. So this must be before or the beginning of "The Fall of Reach". I recognize Linda because of the Sniper and Master Chief because he is in the middle and is looking epic, but I didn't notice that that was a knife in the one to the right of Master Chief. You have good deduction skills (Example:
The stilettos are the [most likely] the Spartans from the Halo Novel Series.
Linda is one of these Spartans.
Linda uses the sniper.
The stiletto all the way to the right has a sniper.
Therefore, the stiletto all the way to the right is Linda.)

Would it be possible for someone to give us a good quality zoom?

First of all I have never agreed with that. Go ahead check my post history. (Primarily the picture at top analyze thread)

And most people follow mods like lemmings. Since a mod proposed it, it got attention and most people believe that what they say is absolutely 100% correct.

Yes, but weren't the Elites still part of the Covenant at this time? So it is either that this is a lone Elite that isn't like the rest, all Elites weren't part of the Covenant at this time, or it's just a bulky Spartan that has bulky armor. Please forgive me if I am wrong with the above, I am very drowsy today and my focus is not 100% on the things I do.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

To me, the person holding the sniper looks male, and the one you say is holding a knife looks female. I don't think we have any evidence that can really tell us anything about those characters, and I also don't think that the trailer should be grounds to say that we'll be playing as or even with those Spartans.

I'd love if it we finally got to have the canonical Spartans in a game, and I hope that we do, but every time a Halo game is announced, we all have a tendency to fantasize too broadly, and then people get upset later when it is revealed otherwise.

This time I'm going not going to paddle out past where the waves start to form. I'm going to let the big wave come to me.

Elites were responsible for burning Reach. They certainly were part of the Covenant. And there's no indication that any Elites switched sides and considering Humanities hate for them I'd doubt they'd even accept a defector.

Sam never participated in the battle of Reach. The one on the far right totally looks like an ODST just by the size and shape of the helmet and lack of a visor. The one on the left looks like a spartan and even has the indent on the top of the helmet in the center as well as holding a machine gun.
