Subject: Health System?

Hey.

From watching this, it seems as if the health system is different and there are health packs. Does anyone know how the health system really works?

Some guy made this for me

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

In a few weekly updates, Bungie has stated that you regenerate health after a little while. However, you do not have shields.

As for health packs, it's possible it will be implemented into the game, but so far there hasn't been any official words to it.

I wish I was still legendary.

Similar to Halo 1 but without shields would be my guess. Health goes down, find/use a healthpack.

I hope they get counted as usable equipment, so we don't consistently get stuck having to wander Mombasa to find one...and stackable, up to like 5 of them being held at once.

I don't like it as much, but yes it will more of a challenge and more realistic, which I do like.

Yeah, especially the pistol, Bungie got right to my heart with that one.

BTW, thank you bungie, for said pistol.

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

It's probably going to be similar to the COD health system. There's really no other way to do it without a health bar.

I see ideas with this for multiplayer. You can be like the umm.. medic? Someone needs health you can hold down X to drop a health pack for the guy who needs it and you can tap X to heal yourself.

Neo has officially been promoted to barf cleaner-upper and pukee hair holder.
I am honored to have that position. While your barfing I can steal your wallets!

It's creepy enough that people stalk Bungie via Webcams, but it's even worse how they stalk back.

There is no ODST multiplayer.

Oh god, that's really going to annoy me. At least the Halo 1 pistol is back, I knew they would bring it back.

Hey.

Yeah, also like Control Monger's health system (I hated it though.)

Anyway, from what I can tell, most of your health comes from health packs.

ALSO:
- Judging by the way Joe's red flashing screen faded out after the fall, its possible that you can slowly heal somewhat, but not really enough to save you, like the Chiefs shields.

- He takes a few visible direct hits, but takes no damage. Either he had immortality on for the demo, or there is a bit of resistance before you start taking damage.

Hey.

I was hoping that ODST would have a beta, but it's only campaign and it seems as if Bungie only makes multiplayer betas.

it seems like cod4's health system

That's what I was thinking. Especially because of the flashing red screen after he falls out of the drop pod.

"Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice."

For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.

Maybe there is some kind of armor factor. Your armor absorbs a percentage of the damage, but the more hits it takes the less effective it is. Pure speculation on my part, but a pretty cool idea none the less.

Imagine, at 100% armor, armor absorbs say 50% of all damage taken. at 80% armor, it absorbs 40% of damage, and at 40% armor, it absorbs 20% damage, etc. It would be pretty interesting to see the armor work that way. But I doubt it will.

  • 06.01.2009 5:26 PM PDT

It is like Cod health, but you can monitor it with that health bar at the top.

  • 06.01.2009 5:29 PM PDT

I am the Sharpshooter

I hope it doesnt have a medi pack system, otherwise youd could get hurt right at the beginning of the level or just before a critical point, then cant get to a medi pack and consequently have to spend timely retries on the same part of the level or restart... very annoying! Hopefully will be like cod or vegas health system

Halo is a game it's no different from any other.

Since your not a spartan and you don't have shields it seems like the game uses internal health similar to call of duty of gears of war

  • 06.01.2009 6:58 PM PDT

yea that would be a pretty cool mix.armored and non armored in one =P
