No, a Halo prequel. I takes place right before Halo 1. If it was Halo 4, its storyline would take place after Halo 3.

Well Halo 3:ODST takes place before Halo 3 yet it has a 3 in it...
Though I have to agree with you, Bungie is very conservative when it comes to revealing numbers and dates, but when they do, they are most likely symbolic or have some profound meaning...
Then again, all we've seen is a trailer, so we can make no assumptions...
But it appears suspiciously related to the book "The Fall of Reach", in which the events occur BEFORE Halo: CE..

Chronologically i think this how the halo games go:
Halo Wars, Reach, H1 , H2 and ODST, and H3

I think it would actually be:

Halo: Reach, Halo Wars, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3

In The Fall of Reach, they meet the Covenant for the first time. While in Halo Wars, it starts off fighting the covenant.

OK I just looked it up on Wikipedia, The Fall of Reach takes starts in 2517, while Halo Wars takes place around 2531. So Halo: Reach is before Halo Wars

Sorry but that's completely wrong. Halo wars is centered on the outer planet of harvest, during the first encounter with the covenant. The fall of Reach is right before Halo CE, after almost all of the other planets have been destroyed or taken over except for Earth. Wikipedia failed you.

Well, the fourth Star Wars was actually the first one....

Or more in relation to this event, the 1st movie in the series (Episode I) was actually the 4th to be done. If Halo:Reach is indeed a prequel, which it seems to be, it would match that same way of doing things. Does this mean we can expect 2 more Halo games to follow!?

Thanks for choosing to whine over being a productive member of the community and possible element towards advancing Reach.

Nevermind, need to learn to read a little more next time.

Since the events take place a little bit before halo 1 im guessing its halo 1/2.
But anyone who's read the books is GOING TO LOVE THIS!

Not Halo 4, this is another prequel. Read The Fall of Reach book.

  • 06.01.2009 5:41 PM PDT

i have read that book a million times but i say it is not halo 4 but not a prequel either. there are some good reasons for this too!.

if i remeber properlly the spartan designations did not go as high as 252 or whatever was in the trailer. my guess is that this has to do with the next batch of spartans being the Gamma or beta or whatever one they are on now. thats why im think that this is like the second battle for reach because there are some plot inconsisntces in the trail to whats in the first book

first of all the covenant did not jump inside the UNSC defensive line and bypass it. they jumped well outside of it because they did not have the info on how to do that from cortana on the acendant justice and were given a stiff beting by the fleet first

second no spartan designation was as high as 252

and third looking at the sillotetes on the top of the page im saying this also has to do with the elites since the big one looks like an elite.

also WHO IS NOVA 1 or whoever they were trying t find

the only thing that could throw this off is that there was some one saying that wew would hold them off as long as possible and thats the same thing that another spatan said at reach but im thinking thats a throw back

this is just my guess at it guys not fact

The Fall of Reach happens just before the start of Halo: Combat Evolved. The Pillar of Autumn escapes to Installation 04 where CE takes place.

Humanity's first contact with the Covenant is at Harvest.

I would say it's a prequel. The very beginning of the video starts with this text: "From the beginning, you know the end." To me, this makes it pretty obvious that it's a prequel, not to mention that the events on Reach happened before Halo: CE.

  • 06.01.2009 5:50 PM PDT

eh im still saying it aint a prequel. there are too many inconsitnces in the trailer even with that

  • 06.01.2009 5:51 PM PDT

There doing it starwars style

The book was so amazing and the whole event, and events surrounding it, were great. If they can capture the beauty of the novel this will be an immense game. I can't wait to experience the tragic end of Reach.

It's Halo zero not Halo four ^^

Message To Everyone. This Game Is 100% a PREQUEL. It Is Not Set After Halo 3.

I Know This Because In The Trailer It Says " The Spartans have landed".

Implying ther are more than one spartans.

I think your right, seeing as how Contact Harvest is after Fall of Reach, and in Halo Wars they mention Harvest a lot, right?

nooooo. halo wars takes place on harvest, and sometime before reach. reach takes EXACTLY before halo CE
