It is great. I recently returned from the future. The single player is shorter than the Halo 3 campaign, but way better replay value. Where Halo 3 levels were purely linear, ODST gives you options. Firefight was very well made, but like anything else gets dull quickly. There just aren't enough options.
The multiplayer...well we've all played the same online game for over a year now. The rest of the maps are probably the best of the bunch. Longshore is the best IMO. BTB is never the same. The Midship remake is great too. ODST gives Halo 3 another activity boost for over a year.
The Reach MP Beta is the best part, though. The maps are huge; 30v30. But the revolutionary part comes in with its RTS elements. Each team gets a Captain and Co-Captain who is responsible for directing the division. They watch the entire map from space or UAVs and give orders through voice and nav points on-screen. Of course there are smaller modes with pure FPS gameplay, but the RTS-FPS combos are most popular. When you start the game for the first time it asks which side you want to join and you fight for the planet (not Reach). Stats are tracked for each side and at the end of the month the current planet is declared won by a certain side and the next planet is moved onto, though the maps stay the same.
Too bad I forgot my time machine back in the future, or I'd let more people play. Sorry guys.
