He isn't master chief how the hell does he just walk off like that?

(was demonstated during the beggining of the trailer)

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Even though he's not a Spartan, he's still wearing armor that absorbs the impact.

There was a demo on G4 with Joe Staten giving a walkthrough. The drop takes out a ton of your health into the red zone, and apparently med packs are back to recover your health.

I'm more Rad than you.

ODST's are trained to drop from incredible heights, and withstand incredible amounts of shcok on there legs.

lols everyone knows bulletproof glass cannot withstand teacups thrown by russian women.

Wasn't the rookie a member of the SPARTAN-I program? So, he's better than your average human?

  • 06.01.2009 5:37 PM PDT

Yeah, it's too bad he doesn't have armor all over him, along with a suit that has a gel layer to absorb drop shocks or anything like that. Oh wait...

If you want to discuss issues in dropping large distances and walking away unscathed in an impossible way, go play some Call of Duty.

  • 06.01.2009 5:37 PM PDT

Oh come on, do any of you actually know any of the -blam!- you're talking about, or are you just posting to sound like idiots? There was never a SPARTAN-I program, and he's an ODST, a hardcore-er version of your average marine. Nothing more nothing less.

Um, yes there was a SPARTAN-I program. Sgt. Johnson was a member of that program. The Master Chief was a member of the SPARTAN-II program, and "Ghosts of Onyx" focuses on the SPARTAN-III program. Idiot.

Just curious, and even in COD you die after droping 15 feet. I can understand that they have been trained to deal with the large amount of shock.

Tomorrow isn't looking too good either.

Since we never actually see how high up the Rookie is, he might not have jumped that far.

The Spartan I program is official canon. It hasn't been fleshed out mind you, but it does exist.

I guess the name Orbital Drop Shock Trooper dosent mean anything

No there wasn't you dip-blam!-e. That was a rumor on the internet, never confirmed before. It wasn't in ANY of the books, including the one that was based almost entirely on his actions. Wow, you're cool, you can call me an idiot when you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm so hurt.

Way to flame RvB. I was just posting because I was curious. Be curtious and don't be insultive. Apparently everyone knows that the Spartan I program exists and you failed to accept that fact a long time ago.

So you're trying to say that somehow, everyone in the whole of the UNSC forgot how to count, and thinks that either "1" doesn't exist, or that is comes after "2"?

Or have you just never read the comics, and the books, both of which basically scream *SPOILERS*

"JOHNSON IS A SPARTAN-I!!"

  • 06.01.2009 5:46 PM PDT

If I were to make up fiction for this, I'd say it's because ODST's are physically trained for this.

  • 06.01.2009 5:47 PM PDT

Bungie = GODS

Well, he is an ODST, they're tough guys, and this is not real life ya know.

The guy above just said it wasn't even official. If it's not official, than it doesn't exist. I didn't fail to except anything, I just failed to accept that all of you are total morons, but I'm in the process of being proved wrong.

Dear God, here, let me make it simple. They're SPARTAN II's because the first Spartans, lived thousands of years ago. Does a movie full of half-naked men with large weapons yelling at the top of their longs while being attacked by fictional monsters of the Persian empire ring a bell? Maybe?
