Dear God, here, let me make it simple. They're SPARTAN II's because the first Spartans, lived thousands of years ago. Does a movie full of half-naked men with large weapons yelling at the top of their longs while being attacked by fictional monsters of the Persian empire ring a bell? Maybe?

So you're trying to say that somehow, everyone in the whole of the UNSC forgot how to count, and thinks that either "1" doesn't exist, or that is comes after "2"?

Or have you just never read the comics, and the books, both of which basically scream *SPOILERS*

"JOHNSON IS A SPARTAN-I!!"

For SPARTA!!!!!

WRONG!!!

2 words: ORION Project.

That's the codename for the SPARTAN-I program.

Um, yes there was a SPARTAN-I program. Sgt. Johnson was a member of that program. The Master Chief was a member of the SPARTAN-II program, and "Ghosts of Onyx" focuses on the SPARTAN-III program. Idiot.

johnson was never a spartan 1, never was there any reference to the SPARTAN 1s or Johnson being one, thats just a rumor. the SPARTAN 1s were the ancient greek spartan soldiers.

im sure ur going to try and say that johnson was one in contact harvest or watever, no he wasnt in contact harvest he was at the beginning in Operation: TREBUCHET, a military campaign to fight the insurection. then he went to harvest to train the ragtag group of colonial soldiers. he is not a spartan 1

For the last time its TURRETS not TORRENTS. A TORRENT is either a peer to peer file sharing protocol or a violently fast stream of water. A TURRET is a self-contained weapons platform housing guns and capable of rotation. And TURRENT isn't even a word.

No there wasn't you dip-blam!-e. That was a rumor on the internet, never confirmed before. It wasn't in ANY of the books, including the one that was based almost entirely on his actions. Wow, you're cool, you can call me an idiot when you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm so hurt.

no Spartan 1 project? What?

The Spartan 1 project is mentioned in the Contact Harvest prologue, the Halo Wars timeline, and even the Halo Graphic Novel. It is also known as the ORION project.

Spartans never die, they are just missing in action...

does it matter? its a game, but in terms of realism its kinda iffy, but think of it this way, in the year 2552 they most likely designed armour to absorb impacts from a fall like that.

Oh come on, do any of you actually know any of the -blam!- you're talking about, or are you just posting to sound like idiots? There was never a SPARTAN-I program, and he's an ODST, a hardcore-er version of your average marine. Nothing more nothing less.

Wasn't the rookie a member of the SPARTAN-I program? So, he's better than your average human?

Actually, you look like the idiot here. Project ORION was the Spartan-I Project. Avery Johnson was a Spartan-I.

The prologue of Halo: Contact Harvest even blatantly tells us that Johnson was in the ORION Project. That makes him a known Spartan 1, along with Nolan Byrne, James Lee, Gilly, Morales, Gladys Wilson, and possibly Franklin Mendez.

Avery Johnson was a Spartan-I.

One of the first 20 to beat Halo 3 on Mythic (Solo Legendary All Skulls On), in the later half I'm guessing
I notice time that light has reflection for, like the rainy magic of nobody else on a lovely day.

Proof!

WTF! Spartans of Halo are named after the Spartans from thousands of years ago...

Spartan I Project exists. And one of the squad leaders of the IIs is meant to be a Spartan I.

Spartan II Project exists. That is the one with the MJOLNIR armor.

Spartan III Project is rumor and non canon.

Read the Contact Harvest prologue, there are a list of operations that Johnson has participated in. ORION is on that list.

Don't just read the articles, check the sources for yourself.

You're a little backwards pal. Spartan I's don't exist, and Spartan III's ARE real, as they were one of the main plot lines in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx.

Page 122 of the Halo Graphic Novel talks about Johnson being in Project Orion and Operation Kalidoscope. In The Fall of Reach it talks about Project Orion being started to fight the Insurrgents. Johnson references his missions in Contact Harvest.

Spartan 1's do exist, I will say it again, CONTACT HARVEST PROLOGUE.

I will also mention that the ORION project is all over the Halo Wars Timeline (its one of the extras included with the game).

It is mentioned in the graphic novels.

If that's not canon I don't know what is.

Heck, it was even mentioned in the AXON clips (part of the Halo 2 I Love Bees event).
