What engine do you think they will use for Reach.ODST seams to have better graphics then halo 3 so there are improvements that can be made.

i hope they use unreal. they could get so much done in so little time if they used unreal 3. gears seems to have an easy enough time with it and they game could be so beautiful and intricate if they did

NY Giants
Miami Heat

If there's an open beta for the multiplayer then it suggests that's its changed drastically so a new engine I assume.

Happily married to Fatal_Coin_Vest since July 1st, 2009.

Thank you, Captain K Mart.

It's the same engine, just constantly updated.

It is a whole new game, nothing to do with Halo 3. Halo 3: ODST is an expanshinpack for Halo 3, and will be selling for less than Halo 3 (so Bungie says).

Thanks for the unrelated info everyone knew

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

I really hope not (if it uses Halo 3 engine). It would've been another 3 years since Halo 3, I wanna see something new, something that other games don't have yet.

Plus Halo 3 engine had so many limitations such as DLC, they could only make new maps.

I wouldn't mind seeing a cover system put into this game. I haven't seen a FPS game do that so flawlessly.

Cave Johnson here, we're done!

PS: If you are reading this comment while imagining my voice, don't panic. That's just a side effect of the testing.

Bungie always manages to boost up their graphics, like take a look at ODST, to me it looks eons better than halo 3, so Imagine what something has been in a much longer production will produce.

Well no -blam!- gears will do well with it, Epic made Unreal.

Lol i would like to see the cryengine 3 lol JK

They will not use unreal. All of Bungie's games have been built off of their own custom game engines, so there's no reason for them to swap. The Halo engines have all excelled at generating massive, outdoor environments and there's no reason to change that system.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Halo: Reach will more than likely use a brand new engine since it's a brand new game.

Halo 3's engine needs some ironing out here and there. Also, I'm sure they can polish the graphics a little more since they should have more experience optimizing for the 360.

From what I see from the trailer it actually looks more movie like. ODST looks pretty sex, and Reach is set to launch a year later, so I'm guessing the graphics will be insane and possibly better than unreal.

  • 06.01.2009 8:38 PM PDT

youtube search me.

i hope they use a game engine with a destructible environment, like in battlefield bad company. that would be cool.

Unless a new Xbox comes out, then don't expect any major graphical changes. The Halo 3 engine maxed out the 360 pretty much.

Bungie wouldn't use the unreal engine. They would use their own engine.

New engine will be a really great notice .

Optimized engine will be a good notice.

GoW 2 was an economic failure. Unreal 3 is, as well.

Look, it's Bungie and Halo. There's a reason why it is the most popular game. Why change something that isn't broke?
