So what equipment will reach contain? You may think it is impossible to tell at this early time but through careful analysis of the time line I think we may find some things of note. The two main things I could see being different are:
1. The Battle Rifle
2. Energy Shields

I am not certain on the time lines but I know that originally the Mark 5 armor did not have energy shields, a quick look through the books should reveal this information. As for the Battle Rifle it would be a simple matter of getting the date that reach fell and the date the Battle Rifle went into service (somewhere in Contact harvest I believe). Anyone else have any idea as to what tools of destruction we will be permitted to use?

Happily married to Fatal_Coin_Vest since July 1st, 2009.

Thank you, Captain K Mart.

Battle rifles were present, but in a test stage. Only the main Spartans of the book used them. If we play as those Spartans, I'd say it's safe to assume we will see BRs.

wasn't the spartan laser technically always around in the Halo Universe just not available for some reason in 1 and 2? I hope we get splazers lol

hmmm... Hopefully actual equipment (Bubble Shields) wont be used at all. But maybe the original pistol will make its return, getting rid of the BR. Also if they are true to the book, energy shields will not be present, as they are not used by anyone but John (MC)

I've notice that over time Bungie has found niches for many of the games weapons (good example: The BR spread change) and i think that in Halo 3: ODST they found a place for the pistol. Judging by the E3 trailer it would seem to have the rate of fire and power of the Halo 2 Pistol (meaning it shoots as fast as you can pull the trigger and has a seemingly lower damage output then then all the others) with the range and accuracy of the Halo CE pistol, making for a weapon that excels at taking down enemies with no energy shields or power armor, or as i like to call it a "finisher". If I am correct I doubt we will be seeing a return of the Halo CE pistol.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Reach happened just before Halo 1.

MC didn't upgrade his MJOLNIR armor between Reach's fall and Halo CE

Therefore, there should be shields.

Battle Rifles = Not on Pillar of Autumn, since it was meant to assault a covenant capital ship and the equipment on board was suited for ship to ship combat.

Though I hope they have the Assault Carbine from Ghosts of Onyx.

Equipment is a must.

Thanks for the confirmations, but who said anything about the Pillar of Autumn or Master Cheif?(How do you know you play as the cheif?) And yes, the Assault Carbine would be cool to see.
