Soooo.... I thought the Halo franchise was bought by Microsoft, and that after ODST came out, Bungie was done and was not allowed to anymore. what is Reach then?

So Bungie CAN keep making games?

Where are you getting these crazy ideas from?

hi

/facepalm

it was kind of a shenanigans stunt by Bungie to throw us all off. As far as I know they are still seperated as in Microsoft doesnt own them but they are still making the Halo 4 game with Bungie along with Frank O'Connor and one japanese developer who I think came from MGS or some game like that.

Halo 3 ODST was said to be the last serenade of Bungie. Microsoft bought the rights of Halo. And ODST was SUPPOSED the be the last made by Bungie.

  • 06.01.2009 6:48 PM PDT

What?

When did this happen? Bungie OWNS the Halo Franchise! They can do whatevert they want with it!

Actually they don't Microsoft bought the rights to the Halo franchise a long long time ago.

Behin...Never Mind

Actually cpage4, Microsoft bought the franchise from them. So Microsoft owns the Halo franchise and can have anyone make a Halo game.

Microsoft Corp. today announced it acquired Chicago-based Bungie Software Products Corp., a leading independent developer of action oriented computer and video games. As a result of this acquisition, Microsoft gains exclusive publishing and distribution rights to select Bungie-developed titles, including the highly anticipated sci-fi action epic "Halo."

Please do not send me group invites. If I were interested in your group, I would have already found it.

Micro$oft own Halo, and they can give it to whatever development studio they please. If that studio happens to be the creator of the franchise, what of it?

As soon as Bungie decide they can't beat this particular post-mortem mule any more, Micro$oft will probably flog it for all it's worth and more with another developer. I can't wait for Halo Kart...

they said they arent making games that wopuld take place on halos but thye can still do stuff in the halo universe besides why would microsft be like hey you made three great game soon to be four but after the fourth one you cant make anymore using the halo universe and actually i thought microsft bought bungie to only sell games to them not bought the halo of course if they did by bungie sthe halo franchise would in turn come with

Also, hilarious quote:

True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice.

.

Bungie was making Halo 1 when it became a part of Microsoft. Microsoft, when it bought Bungie, also bought the Halo IP. Last summer(?), when Bungie became completely independent from Microsoft, Microsoft retained the Halo IP and was likely under contract with Bungie to do stuff like ODST. Whether Bungie approached MS or MS approached bungie about either, or both, ODST/Reach we dont know.

Bungie was actually part of Microsoft. When they broke away Halo stayed with MS.

Microsoft purchased the rights to a halo RTS not the whole story

NO ONE ever said Bungie was done with their Halo franchise and can't make any more Halo games.

Cave Johnson here, we're done!

PS: If you are reading this comment while imagining my voice, don't panic. That's just a side effect of the testing.

Microsoft owns the right to the Halo Franchise. It also entitles them to hire certain gaming companies to produce halo games, and which better company to hire than bungie? Gearbox? HAH! Only child's play when it comes to halo.
