Subject: Can Bungie do this?

Behin...Never Mind

NO ONE ever said Bungie was done with their Halo franchise and can't make any more Halo games.

Look Earlier in the forum and you'll see that if MS doesn't want Bungie to make a Halo game they can't.

True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice.

thats the problem, though. Microsoft wants Bungie to keep making tons of Halo games because they assume we will still love Halo by the time Halo 37 comes around. Thats probably half the reason they became independent if you read the article someone posted. I guarantee this was planned for a while and Bungie now has something new, a completely new IP, behind the scenes.

I agree totally but be honest if they made a Halo 37 and the other 36 were good you'd play it right?

Halo is a game it's no different from any other.

Bungie > Microsoft
Microsoft is just like us they have no rights

Microsoft DOES own the rights to Halo. That means that they can allow any developer to make a Halo game. :)

Microsoft Corp. today announced it acquired Chicago-based Bungie Software Products Corp., a leading independent developer of action oriented computer and video games. As a result of this acquisition, Microsoft gains exclusive publishing and distribution rights to select Bungie-developed titles, including the highly anticipated sci-fi action epic "Halo."

But now Bungie is an independent studio, so I'm not sure if this still applies.

Edit: I have no link, it was in one of the podcasts though.

Not about the original acquisition of Bungie, but the rights to Halo after they split.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Actually, Microsoft does own the rights to Halo, but they can choose to let Bungie develop it if they want, which is what they did here.

Chupa's got a little secret, yes he does.

Who cares! Bungie is making another game, that alone is enough EPIC WIN to render your point completely mute.
